First of all, guys and gals, I just want you to know :l...
CA is a marvelous cigar forum, and I enjoy every minute here...furthermore, within it's depths we have a fledgling pipe forum for your edification and enjoyment in the arts of pipe smoking...within that pipe forum there are several threads to help you get started if you're new to pipe smoking (The Newbie Sampler Trade-For Pipe Tobacco), and a few threads to trade the tobacco around if you have some trading experience and want to try new blends and have some fun (The Pipe Tobacco PIF and the CA Pipe Tobacco Lottery II)...let me explain in a nutshell, a more detailed explanation of these will be found in their respective threads:
The Newbie Sampler Trade-For Pipe Tobacco - this is for new pipe smokers and new traders to get some experience with different blends and some trader feedback in the process...there will be several experienced pipe smokers (EPS) listed as traders and waiting for a new pipe smoker (NPS) to contact them...when an NPS contacts an EPS to set up a trade, the NPS will send the EPS one 50 gram tin of premium pipe tobacco of the EPS's choice....upon receipt of same, the EPS, in return, will send the NPS five or six samples of different pipe tobaccos (enough of each to enjoy five or six bowlfuls) to allow new pipe smokers to start learning and experiencing different blends without have to spend a fortune going through tin after tin to find out what you like...the thread for the Newbie Sampler Trade-For Pipe Tobacco can be found here, and you might want to read the beginning of the thread to get a comprehensive idea of how it works...

The Pipe Tobacco PIF - this one's easy...this is a pass it forward...someone offers free pipe tobacco...if you want it, accept the offer, and when you receive your PIF it's your turn to offer free pipe tobacco...this is for traders and pipe smokers that have a few trades under their belts, and who have deep enough stashes of pipe tobacco to offer up several different blends to be enjoyed...the thread for the Pipe Tobacco PIF can be found here, and again, you might want to read the beginning of the thread to get an idea of how it works...and right now, there's an offer of free tobacco up for grabs...

The CA Pipe Tobacco Lottery II - this one offers a little more fun...primarily, it's for pipe smokers with some trader experience, and some experience with blends...there are thirteen players, and each player receives three random numbers, varying, from one to thirty-nine...when the powerball lottery numbers are drawn, on the last Saturday of any given month, the powerball number itself will drive this lottery and if it's one of your numbers, you win...the other twelve players will each send you a 50 gram sealed tin of pipe tobacco during the course of the next month (you will receive twelve tins), and you will provide them trader feedback for doing so...right now, we have one opening...anyone who would like to fill that spot please post in the thread which you will find here (with it's rules)...winning is fun...
