Specs:

AR15.com lower
Daniel Defense Lower Parts Kit

LaRue Tactical Padded 2 Point Sling
Magpul MOE Grip Flat Dark Earth
Magpul CTR Carbine Stock (Milspec) Flat Dark Earth
DSA Milspec Buffer Tube Kit

I plan on either getting an EOTech 512 or an Aimpoint for the optic. I already have an EOTech on my other AR, so I am leaning toward an Aimpoint

Once you go AK you never go back! Nice build though. I got sick of paying for .223!

I've been back 3 or 4 times now ;)

Without going into the AR/AK debate, I can say without a doubt there isn't an AK on the market that I would choose over an AR.

That's what I like to see! I got a couple "custom" builds along with a WASR and some receivers the ATF wouldn't like. :r

Then we don't know if you mucked up that build or not yet :D

Course you had a pre-assembled upper, which takes half the fun out of it ;)

It is possible that I screwed up the build, but I think I am fine because I did function checks on it.

Nice looking AR you have built.

A friend of mine did an AR build and we shot it at my local range a few weeks back.... after months and months of waiting on this and that to arrive..... in the end, it sucked for accuracy. I blame it on his poor choice in optics.

Sweet. We use a TA476 where I work. Works beautifully.

I used to own a TA01NSN, but I sent it to my friend in Iraq while he was on tour. When he got back he bought me this TA31F.

I have to say I like the TA31F much better. The fiberoptics are a nice touch.

I've never used the compact ACOG's though. They look appealing, but the price tag for a 2x optic just makes me look towards an Aimpoint instead. What's your take on that? ie. Which would you prefer if price was a consideration?

maninblack
06-07-2010, 02:06 PM
If price were a consideration, I'd go with the ACOG's. I love using these scopes and have never had any issues with them.I am thankful I don't have to pay for them though. I want one for my AR but can't pull the trigger due to the price.

I got a super deal on my TA01NSN. Somewhere around the tune of 550$.

If it hadn't of been for that, I wouldn't have paid the price tag. It felt wrong not to spend the dough with that kind of deal.

ACOGS are the way to go.

I've got a EOTech 552.A65/1 up for sale if anyone wants. Brand new never used it.

Nice. Man it's been a while since I've shot mine. I really want to asap. I didn't build mine but got a great deal on a Colt Match Target AR15, 20". I love it. I almost got a 2-stage trigger for it but never did. I got a Army surplus .223 years ago for a great price. 1000 rounds, but I don't remember how much I paid. Before that I made the mistake of buying Wolf ammo... DON'T. After a day of shooting the firing pin was black. I took it completely apart and cleaned everything. It was nasty. I've never been a fan of AKs much, although I do have a Yugo SKS which is a fun little plinker.
