View Full Version : Best Cigar You Ever Smoked?

I am sure there is another thread, maybe even multiple threads, with the same title. But people smoke new cigars all the time, so opinions may have changed. So....What's the best cigar you've ever smoked? Me, I can't really say just one, but I can say Opus X Petit Lancero, my first Montecristo #4, and my first RASS....

My first CC was a '06 PLPC that another BOTL gifted to me. Man, I was in heaven. It was a pure caramel flavor :dr

I wish I had another one just like that one.

I'd have to say that CC's Cohiba Robusto, HdM Hoyo du Dieux, as well as more recently, the NC Siglo I from Altadis.

No change for me. Habanos 1994. Period.

Now that I think of it, PLPC 2007 should be in there too...

The best cigar I ever had was a Cohiba Siglo VI Gran Reserva (I posted a review here: http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showpost.php?p=817770&postcount=1).

I am sure that I had other good cigars (CC and NC) but this one dwarfed them all.

...Opus X Petit Lancero

:D

I can def. say one of the best I've ever had was the VR Famoso that you sent me in return for the Opus. I still have one left and I can't wait to torch it. Thanks again Tom!

I enjoy a good cigar but don't really remember them. I may remember the 1946 White Owl and the 1980 Monte that was gifted to me in a going away herf, but it wasn't really the cigars that are memorable. It was the last herf with a bunch of friends over good food and drink that makes those amoung the best cigars I have ever had in my life.

To me good or bad really doesn't matter if I have some friends to enjoy it with. At a herf hand me a Guantanamera or hand me a 94 Cohiba it doesn't matter, as long as we are all there having a good time.

And it keeps me from remembering that HTF stick that was oh so great. My wallet likes that too.

Is this "the best cigar (we) ever smoked", or" the best 4 cigars (we) ever smoked"?

There are too many great ones to narrow it down to one... some of the best are Cohiba Seleccion Reserva gifted by Shawn (silverfox), or the Esplendido I smoked the night my niece was born...or some of the amazing cigars i tried at Shack...

the most memorable was one I smoked with Joey (ir13), it tasted like I was smoking a bowl of cocoa puffs... to bad we had so much port, and so many cigars that night that we cant remember what it was :bh (I believe it was a VR Maestro)

Best ever?

So many I have had the privilege of smoking, but BEST ever usually means some sort of sentimental aspect was part of the experience, so....

93 Bolivar Royal Corona gifted to me at an early SoCal by Gordon who is no longer with us. RIP Gordon

I can think of three cigars that stuck out the most.

00 Party Lonsdale. For some reason I can never replicate that enjoyment and taste of that first one.

Festival Mareva - Tasted just like peanut butter :dr

Vegas Robania Jubilaums - My gawd it was sweet and smooth, I'm not crazy for Robusto Extra sized cigars because they don't always keep me interested but WOW...

I would have to say my favorite cigar would still be a Liga Privada No. 9.

For CCs it would be a VR Classico I had from '07.

Hoenstly they also may have great cigars but became even better cigars because they were given to me by some awesome BOTLs

I'd have to say that CC's Cohiba Robusto, HdM Hoyo du Dieux, EXACTLY the two I was gonna mention as well.

as well as more recently, the NC Siglo I from Altadis. This one however surprises the hell outta me, you don't work for Altadis do you?! :r

Best cigar? Gorilla finger, hands down. :r

I don't really have a definitive answer for this one, as there are many cigars that I've smoked that have been great, and not one of them shines brighter than the others.

I guess if I had to say one at this moment in time, it would be '07 RASS.

Best ever - easy King Edward from the 30's or 40's IIRC that Hal (hk3) shared with us at a herf in Richmond. Each puff was like smoking a new cigar. The flavors and complexity were unreal. And smooooooooooooooooth.

It used to be 07 Boli CE but I had a PLPC from my 07 cab that was absolutely and totally different than any of the others I had..the flavors were mesmerizing...I hope to repeat that one.

There's a couple that really stick out in my mind

Arturo Fuente Hemmingway Masterpiece - the first hand-rolled cigar I ever smoked, first I ever fell in love with, and first I ever bought a box of.

Padilla Achilles Salomon - Kept me company for a long car drive. Loved it, and all of the robustos I have had since have been equally stellar.

Some DPG - That's descriptive, isn't it? My local cigar shop was lucky enough to have DP come and roll cigars for us. I bought 5x DPG cigars so that I got to take one of the rolled cigars home with me. 4 months later, I smoked one of the most amazing cigars I have ever tasted. Unfortunately, DPG doesn't do that mixture of wrapper/filler for commercial cigars yet.

Best ever? Probably the old Por Larranaga I smoked New Year's Eve 2010 a gift from the Dark Lord. The original release Edmundo Dantes Conde 109 would be close second. Looking at Kelly's post looks like I need to burn my 1994!:dr

Best ever...toss up between the CAO MX3 & the Camacho Triple Maduro...the flavors were unreal, smooth, yet strong...kinda like a slap to the face...exactly what I enjoy in a stick.

I've been thinking about this for some time, its a tough one for me to narrow down. I can get in the neighborhood tho I guess.

Farmhouse Trinidad Fundadore - The first one I had at Shak 08, that was a mindblower.
Cohiba Milli Pyramid - Again the first one I smoked, indescribably good.
1994 - In my opinion the best of the holy trinity, prolly only because I can find them.
1994 Cohiba Lancero - this thing was off the charts good.
VR Jube - Its been mentioned a couple of times but this is a "slap yo momma for telling you not to smoke" good cigar.

I honestly cannot wait to add to my list of Best cigars I have ever smoked!!

A Party Short that was given to me by somebody here or at that other place. I do not recall his name. It was flat-out fantastic, but left me wanting another. I'd love to have a smoke such as that in a 6X60 without losing or gaining any profile characteristics.

Some stinky old cigar Klugs gave me some time ago (thanks Dave).

I think he said it was a Dum-Hill-Kab-A-Net-Uhh or something.

I'm pretty sure that means it was a Gurhka .... damned good Gurhka I'll tell you.

My top 2 would be the CC RyJ Churchill that must have been 10 years old my dad's friend gave me for my birthday, and the 1995-ish era Cohiba Lancero. I bought it in Belize, In 1995 buti have no clue what year it was made.

Best cigar ever, not taking into account any other factor, was a Partagas Dunhill 777 smoked with Allan in KC. Sad part is I will never smoke another one again, but I will never forget the one I had.

70s Upmann Dunhill # (cant remember the number, it was a lonsdale)
1991 Cohiba Robusto
1997 PCC Churchill

The list could go on and on...but the best cigar, without a doubt was a Dunhill Tubo that was gifted to me by Bruce at Shack last year early Sat morning.....damn it was good!

Smoked two on the same night, a Monte #2 (1983) & Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure #2 (1990) with my uncle after graduating from the Seminary.

Although, it may have been as much the festivities and company as much as the cigars.

Peace of the Lord be with you.

A 1992 H. Upmann Preciosas (MM 32 x 100(3.9))

I believe this cigar was an extra on a trade I did with SeanGar some years back, since then I was able to find 2 boxes, now I guard these little buggers like there F@@@ Gold. Only 1 Full box left and I am afraid to smoke them as I know I will never find them again. :(

Not a ton of experience with CC's yet. But my top 3 would have to be a Tat Cohete, Tat black CG, and the first PSD4 I smoked.

Think my best so far was the Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve Maduro Toro.

Close 2nd, or maybe tied, is the Padron Family Reserve No. 45 Maduro Toro.

I'll put the Olde World ahead cause it's like 1/3 the cost. Both Box press and very similar on flavor (to my newbie tastes anyway).

I think for me anyway the people and the time of the cigar has alot to do with it. Not in any real order.
1998 Punch Corna- Was a gift when I was in Iraq. Didn't think I could get it back through customs cuz I wanted to save it. I smoked it about a week before we left. I sat on the steps of chu and on a nice evening loved that cigar. ( I didn't want to smoke cuz 98 is my sons birth year.)
Padron 2 or 3000 Maddie- It was the first cigar I smoked with JK5. He is an awesome BOTL.
195? Reddot- Thanks again Ben for the chance to be part of that PPP.

See what I mean all the greats have had a great timing with them. Was it the cigars themselves or the timing? I like to think a bit of both.

For NC it is tough to nail down as there have been so many awesome ones. The most memorable was a lowly Sancho Panze Extra Fuerte, it was the first one to make me buy a box.

For CC it was an 01 Punch Black Prince for now...

Sort of a loaded question , Having smoked some bad cigars with the company with me making it a great cigar. and vice versa , smoking a great cigar alone making it just a good cigar...

For me, the best cigar I ever smoked was my first Ashton VSG. I have no idea what the size was, but I do remember the rich creamy smoke that coated my palate, a strength that literally pinned me to my chair, and flavors of chocolate and sweet tobacco that made me fall in love with cigars. It is also the cigar by which I unscientifically rate all others: how rich and creamy is the smoke? how strong is it? and what does it taste like? I enjoyed that first one so much that I am now hesitant to smoke any more VSGs for fear that they will fall flat compared that first one.
