It's official. NBC has cancelled "Heroes."

The network seriously mulled bringing back "Heroes" for a shortened final season to wrap up the serialized show.

In the end, given the fairly high cost of the drama, the show's consistently declining ratings and the number of new hour-longs coming to NBC next season, the network decided the UMS-produced series wasn't worth an additional season. Sources say the network is still leaving the door open to conclude the show with a special or movie.

I am just sorry I won't get to see the cheerleader anymore. :(

That show should have been canceled after season 3.

I haven't watched this season at all. I struggled the last couple of seasons to keep watching it and just couldn't bring myself to care. I wish they would've wrapped the story up with a great short season, but I doubt they could've actually pulled it off well. It seemed like the creative minds behind the show had a few great ideas for the initial season, but everything after that was a "make it up" as they went thing that didn't seem to turn out too well.

Loved the first season. Liked the second. Could not bring myself to care even a bit about the third.

+1 on seasons 1 and 2. I was trying to keep up with the rest of it online at their website but it was too buggy half of the time.

I didn't even like season one, somehow I kept watching, hoping it would get better, but no. I did like Isaac's artwork though, especially the painting of the disappearing sun.

Season one was good. Season two was mediocre, and it just went downhill from there. I kept hoping it would get better, and it consistently failed to do so. I stopped caring by the end of season 3, and just watched part of season 4 because, well, there wasn't really anything else I wanted to watch at the time. No threat, no tension, no emotional urgency, no choices made by writers, boring-ass show.

I think the writers strike killed this one off a long time ago and it's been running on fumes ever since. I kept watching and hoping they'd turn it around but it just didn't happen.

Agreed. Once they had to wrap up their complex time travel storyline really messy because of the strike, I think they were trying to recover ever since then.

Glad they cancelled. Other than season 1 it was mostly crap. RIP

I wasn't surprised that Heroes got the axe. Season 1 was the best BY FAR. The traveling carnival storyline last season was painful. I'm more upset about Flash Forward not being renewed.

No joke, it was such a great series. I'm just glad they let them wrap it up and finish the story, and even though it felt a tad rushed, it wrapped things up nicely I felt.

What?! Let me guess, they needed room in the lineup for a Wife Swap spinoff...

I never watched Heroes but I recall their commercials prior to the season starting stating that they promise not to disappoint this season. That alone made me laugh and I can see their fan base and critics weren't that interested.

one of the things I find most annoying in television, is when the writers of a show clearly have no long-term ideas for where the plot is headed. As a result, story lines get started, then abandoned, and bizarre occurrences start happening with more frequency, like characters getting killed and coming back to life all the time, alternate universes where the good guys are bad and vice versa, the reappearance of a long lost twin sibling nobody knew about  -all clear indications that the writing team is just pulling sh*t out of their a$$es. You see it happen all the time, but mostly with shows that have been on the air for a long time.

I wasn't sorry to see Prison Break go, that show got way too weird too, but I loved Jericho.

Not entirely. V is doing pretty well for sci-fi, and they still have the reality stuff like Extreme Home Makeover, Dancing With Stars, and Supernanny, which all do well with the reality fan lemmings..

Flash Forward got axed? Its always the good shows, Jericho, The 4400, now Flash Forward?

I blame my wife. Even though she loves Flash Forward, she is fan of all that reality crap. ALL of it.

The 4400

Could you (or anyone) explain to me the end of 4400? That was a head scratcher.

Ugh.

From what I hear Flash is out and V is in. It was one or the other. ABC always intended for one of these to replace LOST. Unfortunately both received terrible ratings and they had to choose the lesser of two evils.

Supposedly the writers of Flash are rewriting the last couple episodes to bring closure to the series. I'm just glad they aren't pulling a Will Traveler.

I refused to watch Flash Forward or V until one or the other was picked up after their pilot season. I hate starting a show that I really enjoy then having it get cancelled (Jericho, Eli Stone, etc etc)

Just asking. That is the show with the nanny that comes in to try and tame kids?

It could be worse though right.....like that teen show about 16 year olds with kids on ABC family (i think).
