Sorry if this belongs in the drink forum, but I am thinking about cutting back on my whiskey drinking (I know, I know). Now I don't plan on quiting cigars, but I am so used to having my scotch/bourbon with my smoke. What soft drinks work well with a smoke? Just wanted to hear some opinions.

I've really been enjoying IBC diet rootbeer with my smokes when it's been too early to crack into the booze. It has been great with several different smokes.

Love coffee in the morning and afternoon.

For nights, Arnold Palmer iced teas are great.

I like the John Daly's too:D

I prefer a coffee, always hot too, ice coffee i drink too fast. I do enjoy a hot tea most afternoons. I like ice tea, but not as much as ice coffee.

for soda, usually ginger ale, because it is usually what I have on hand,

for a cocktail, my go to drink is rum and ginger ale.

Depends on what I'm smoking but I do enjoy Boylans Cream Soda, Coke/Mexican Coke, Water and Ice Tea (unsweetened and not flavored).

I drink lemonade(pink) usually, sometimes tea...I feel the carbonation in soda can screw with how you taste a cigar....

My favorites are dark soda, Dr. Pepper at number one, hot coffee, iced coffee.

I've noticed a couple times that certain teas, iced or hot, have reacted negativity with certain cigars, bringing out a tanic, bitter flavor that really turns me off. I've noticed it with water/club soda with lemon as well but sometimes plain, ice water tastes so good.

My new favorite is a fountain Coke (or Dr. Pepper) with plenty of ice. Just perfect with a Party.

Also, Hi-C orange. Robbed from from the kid's stash the other night and it wasn't bad...

I would be more concerned with how the tartness of pink lemonade would mess with the taste of a cigar than I would with carbonation. :2

I like Arnold Palmers, but I find that lemonade can give my cigar a bitter aftertaste, especially if it's a corojo wrapper.

Hot Cocoa can be pretty amazing with the right smoke.
I am also a fan of the spicier Ginger Ales, like Sprecher.

Club soda. The carbonation wakes up your taste buds but doesn't interfere with the flavors of the cigar. :tu

Ginger Ale

I usually enjoy my cigars with Dr Pepper but I gave this a try with an afternoon smoke and thought it was great. Not too sweet and doesn't linger too much on the palette.

Earl Grey tea, iced, lightly sweetened....actually gives you a hint of a bourbon mouth feel.
I also like a club soda with a bit of FRESH lemon, it cleans the palate between puffs a bit.
Espresso anytime.
And it is hard to beat a nice, slightly fruity red wine, like a Malbec or Sangiovese.

But yeah, Bourbon or Scotch is still the way to go! :dr

Usually I have a Coke, but I was really surprised at how well Root Beer went with my cigar.

For me, it's always water and rootbeer. Coffee is a good choice, too, but I rarely smoke in the morning and that's the only time I have coffee.

+1 for most smokes!

I've tried Sprite with a Partagas Salomones and it brought out the sweeter side of it, I'll have to give Ginger Ale a try next time.

THERE ARE NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS???:al:al:r

Water, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper. Are they well paired? I don't know, that's all I drink.
Non-Alcoholically speaking.

If not a beer, I usually just stick w/ water.

Though I've heard some in the industry drink sodas, such as Dr. Pepper, when testing new blends b/c the carbonation helps them taste the flavors of the cigar - no idea if that is true or not...just what I heard (which likely aint worth jack).

Normally, I prefer Coke over Pepsi, but the Hess stations around here have frozen Pepsi (and Dew, but I'm not a big Dew fan). I'm drinking one right now with an EM Emerald, and it's really tasty. Best part: 44oz. for $1.50.

I have been noticing the same thing. I never drink soda before smoking now. Makes the cigar taste flat.

Diet Coke is my preference. There sure are a lot of people that dig Dr Pepper. ha.
