Who do you think is the best player in the NBA right now?

I think LeBron is the best right now.

LBJ....however I really want to see what he can do for the Browns. He has a contract ready for him if he decides he wants to give it a go.

Lebron is the best player right now in the NBA and he is in the prime of his career. If you want best scorer then you are talking about Durant. As far as Kobe is concerned he is now past his prime and traveling down the hill of productivity.

Can you define what you mean by best player?

He won the MVP and I guess the NBA sees Lebron that way. But he was not the leading scorer. So there are other things at stake besides just stats. If that is the case, I chose other and would say Dwight Howard is the top player. If Dwight got his FT % up, he would unstoppable.

This coming from someone who lives in FL. Kobe is better than Howard....

I am not biased in that regards. My main team, the Mavs got sent fishing early. Dwight finished fourth in overall voting (a far fourth, but still in the running). I personally think the NBA and it's sponsors have a puppy love relationship with James and Bryant. They so badly want to see a Lakers vs Cavs championship, they drool at every playoff game talking about it.

I am not taking anything away from Lebron nor Kobe. But if we look at Lebron, his team made some pretty big changes this season and those changes more or less bought them the top place in the NBA. The Lakers did the same according to the NBA salaries and caps.

Dwight sucks at FT's, I get that. But his other stats and contribution to his team go far beyond that of leading scorer on the team. Tell me one other guy besides Shaq (who consequently plays on the Cavs), when they get the ball in the paint you have to foul them or they get the point?

How can you say that? The Cavs have made the playoffs for how many years since they've had lebron?

Shaq is washed up btw and the way he is playing right now I'd give him the open lane since he is actually making free throws.

Kobe has better career numbers, but Lebron is more of a team player. I pick Lebron anyday of the week as the best of the best.

I gotta go with Kobe. He is injured all the time but he still trows down big numbers, and I lost track of how many last second shots he threw down to win the game.

Kobe never ceases to amaze. I don't like him at all, but... He is the best player, not the best team player and hardly a role model. The question is "Best Player, not Best Team Player" or I would pick Lebron.

Good question.
I will answer your question this way. With two minutes left in the game who do I want on my team? Kobe Bryant

See, I would prefer someone like Pierce or Fisher. Both who are great at getting to the rim, but have the knowledge (call it flop or not) to get a foul if they don't make it, LOL.

Let me also add Ginobli into that list as I consider him "Professor Flop". I swear that guy puts on clinics for flopping in the off season.

If you want best scorer then you are talking about Durant..

Dude, your on crack..

While i believe Durant is a great scorer, leBron can score 70pts a game everyday if he wanted to.. He is so big, fast and strong, he can literally do whatever he wants..

And thats why this thread is kinda silly.. Kobe is a GREAT player, but the best player in the NBA right now is LeBron. He has more raw talent and his shear athleticism has literally changed the game for years to come..

Best players can only be Dan Gadzuric and Francisco Elson, why? because they are Dutch :D

At the end of the day, one player is a winner and a champion; both of those are a must to be considered the best. That player is not LeBron James.

How many rings does Kobe have, 5?

Moses, He has 4. However, its not over till its over! Kobe hasnt won anything this year, and LeBron hasnt lost anything this year. Lets see where it goess.. As far as Kobe or LeBron, its apples and oranges IMO.. id like to see LeBron in a triangle offense, hehe

I could be wrong, but i noticed a few Non-NBA threads on this forum too; Maybe you could add a worthless post in one of those?

My favorite player... Wade
To take the shot when the game is on the line... Kobe (and I can't stand him)
To build my franchise around... Dwight Howard
Scoring champion for the next 7 to 10 years ... Durant
Best player in the league... LeBron (has the triple double ability every game he plays)

You might get your wish next year.
Chicago still plays the triangle offense, right?

I was actually thinking of starting a thread on where Lebron will end up next year. Or if he will leave the Cavs. This thread is as good as any. Any thoughts? I think most know where I would like him to end up, Chicago:D Hey, we have the money, let's get him.

Saw a funny report on ESPN that said after the way he played in Game 5, he owes it to Cleveland to stay, which ain't gonna happen.

I think he'd do better in Chicago but have a feeling it will be the Knicks who get him.

I have a feeling that tonight will be the last time you see Lebron in a Cavs jersey.

If he leaves, that just goes to show you he is not a champion. Leave for what? The team is created around him. If he is smart, they'll fire the coach and bring in some new talent. LeBron is within striking distance of a Championship and grass is not going to be greener somewhere else.

If he leaves, it will be a testament to his true character of a child.

It's one thing to leave or ask to be traded your last year like Ray Bourque did, but this is hardly that. LeBron has had a tough time talking to ownership about crafting a better team. More to show that he is not the best as he can not assemble a complimentary "team". Not 4 guys and LeBron.

I think Lebron will stay in Cleveland. While it is the saddest city in the USA, they have put a lot into him. The city has, not just the Cavs. They are doing everything they can to get a championship for him, you can see that in the people they picked up this year. But just like the Suns in the West, they seem to fall short when it comes playoff time.

I remember reading rumors of Lebron hopping the pond to Europe if they could come up with 50 million a year in salary. That seems like the least likely option.

One thing for sure, it won't be Orlando and that suits me fine as we've had enough drama around here.

Probably talking out his ass or kissing Jay Z's again.

What, No mention of Amar'e Stoudemire?

Hardly even in the free agent talk, which is surprising.

I watched him come up through Cypress Creek HS here in Central Florida. He had, I believe, a 70 something point game and was a giant among ants in High School.

Hey, did you EVER see Jordan give up?

Exactly! I saw Jordan score 50 with a fever over 100 as well as many other amazing plays like shrugging his shoulders as every shot he attempted fell.

I never saw him come one turnover away from a quadruple double in an elimination game though.

Granted LBJ has a lot of playing time left, but I personally find it comical he's even being mentioned in the same thread as Kobe.

Supporting players my ass, the way this guy gobbles up salary, he needs to be flawless post season.
