lol. Interesting. I'd like to watch his show, even if I can't talk to the aliens
He does have a valid point. Historically speaking the more advanced/powerful have always taken the resources of the weaker. Be it human or material resources.
In our 50+ years of space flight we have managed to send men to our moon and probes past our planets. Another life form that would have the technology to visit us would therefore be the more advanced/powerful and therefore able to take what ever resource they please if they desired.
And to think that we are the only life forms is naive. Even if the number of less than 1% is used to calculate - they do exist somewhere. Maybe though we are the more advanced - who knows.

so if you were the writer of "Independece Day," are you thinking "holy sh!t, I'm as smart as Hawking, and I put this theory out there years earlier!"

If you look at the way we treat species "lower" than us (we eat them, experiment on them, keep them as pets, exterminate them as pests, etc.), he has a good point.

I've been saying that there's got to be other life forms out there for years, how come no one pays me millions to say it on a TV show? O'well, I'll just go back to work tomorrow and make nothing.

I saw a show on ancient structures like Giza and Machu Pichu and whether there was alien intervention in their creation. So many questions on how they made them and that we would be hard pressed to replicate them with our "modern" construction methods.

How do you know that I'm not? I just don't like to let everyone know because people will be constantly asking me if there are aliens!!!

That was "To Serve Man", Bob. Based on the 1950 short story by Damon Knight, it first aired March 1962. I remember, because I got very little sleep that night. :r
But don't worry too much. We . . . uh, I mean THEY . . . do not eat much.

Heck, the aliens told me not to talk to Hawking. They said he's dangerous. Who am I going to believe?
Hawking is a math genius with a great imagination.
Science is all about theory, experiment and verification.
Neither of these things means his advice is any better than anyone else's, except on what he's good at.

are you basing this due to his thoughts in the scientific world? or thoughts on religion?

Hey, if they land in NY/NJ, DC/Baltimore or LA, they won't have to worry about communication. I am sure they will get the message!

Yes, and since I want to get a bit older (though Lord knows why), I think I'll follow Hawking's advise, and so I won't be talking to any little green men with big white teeth - like this: :D
