Tom, you know better.
He 'slipped and fell' while being detained. That is what the incident report read.

If this story is even remotely true, the guy's a typical spoiled young @$$hole, and deserves any beating he may have received. Too bad they no longer have public stocks in Philly.

I wish the police would have let the people beat him instead of arresting him. I better stop at that and not say anything else...

Freaking jerks.

"Lt.
I did not see him fall on his face. I was talking to----- and looking the other way when he fell. "

Conversation sounds very familiar to me. That guy got off easy. I know a few guys who would have had him slip from their grip.

This story was amazing.....and not in a good way....getting drunk at a game, at 21-22 years old is nothing new.....but I never understood the need to be "Offensive" to those around you....the father was an off-duty police captain with his 2 young daughters and their friend...just seeing the kids in front of you, or anywhere near you, should trigger a "behavior" filter, which apparently this douche, and his friends, lacked....What the asshat did in response to his friend getting kicked out is beyond human decency...is this where society has gone?....BTW, this is NOT NORMAL behavior at Citizens Bank Park...

CBP, except in the most extreme situations like this, is a nice, civilized place.

Inexcusable.

Wow. We had a fight on opening night at AT&T Park, a Braves fan poured beer on 5 Giants fans. That's the first fight I've seen since the place opened.

Baseball is the civil sport. What's wrong with these fools?

What's wrong, Darrell? Well, aside from the general collapse of common civility, riddle me this: How many brews did that Wahoo pour into himself before he dumped one on the crowd?

No telling, my friend. He did tear off his Braves hoodie in preparation for getting the **** kicked out of him by 5 other dudes.

Security stepped in shortly after he threw the first punch....and missed.

Well, he likely made the mistake of NOT swinging at the 5 in the middle. :r

So, I hear they tasered some kid who ran on the field last night. Some think this was justified, some think it a total over-reaction. Me, I wonder if it's a hangover effect from THIS prior puke.

Doesn't really sound like it.

Normally fans running on fields are tackled by security, this time there just happened to be a cop out there too, and he brought the kid down with a taser after the kid eluded two security guards.

I don't think it's fallout, it just sounds like the cop got to the kid first. I personally don't see a problem with what the cop did.

You're probably right, and it probably was an over-reaction.
It does make running on the field look like a lot less attractive. It's a good thing the guys on the field aren't packing. It'd be awful if some idiot ran on the field, came at a player, and caught a hole in the forehead.
There's no substitute for sheer, unadulterated disrespect and overwhelming stupidity. Sometimes it causes a person to get tazered, sometimes it causes them to get dead. I'm not saying it's right, but sooner or later someone is going to get hurt, bad. I can't imagine how important it can be to run on the field and make a spectacle of one's self. It sure can't be worth getting tazered, I wouldn't think? :td

Better a cop or guard than a player, for the fan's sake. :r

I'll agree with you on the kid being stupid and disrespectful. Although at 17, I think it's more naivety than anything else.

And now for the flip side.... how do the players, security and the cops know that this lunatic running on the field isn't packing heat or carrying a blade? That's why they took him down.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A 21-year-old New Jersey man has been sentenced to up to three months in jail for intentionally vomiting on another spectator and his 11-year-old daughter in the stands at a Philadelphia Phillies game.
