Emailed Best Meeschaums (http://www.bestmeerschaums.homestead.com) inquiring about custom made pipes, after hearing back from a gent named Deniz that they in fact do, I emailed a drawing of what I had in mind. The reply was the shape and angles of my design would be difficult in meerschaum, the 6" shank and 4" tall bowl would require a very large block (large enough to carve 3 pipes) of meeschaum, but he would send the drawing to the carver for his opinion.
The answer came after a week, the pipe could be made and for 70% of the originally quoted price. The finished size and shape of the foot is up to the carver so the pipe will be stable when sitting, the carver also suggested and egg shaped bowl (something like that of the pipe pictured) 2" - 2 1/2" in diameter. When finished the pipe will have oval shank, Cumberland stem and an acrylic foot, will be ready to ship meer the end of April.
