Question: If given a choice which cigar would you prefer to smoke a Padilla or one made by Don Pepin Garcia? I would have a tough choice since I love both so much. And if you can tell me why you prefer one over the other. Thanks for your post.

Padillas are not bad smokes by any means, in fact I was just getting ready to smoke a Miami tonight, but I have to say that there are a wider variety of sticks that Pepin puts out that I really enjoy, versus only a few Padillas that I like. The DPG blue label is one of my favorite NCs. If you like these full flavored Nicaraguan cigars, check out Illusione and Tatuaje(made by Pepin).

Between the two I would pick DPG. I still got some of the older Padilla Miami 8/11's made by DPG which are great sticks and some of his best imho.

As much as I;m not a fan of DPG, I like his sticks a lot better than Padilla.

I would choose Pepin because all of his cigars are at least "good," whereas I've had mixed results with Padilla: The 1932 lancero is great...the Dominus is blah, imo. What's your choice, brigey57?

As much as I love the Miami and the 1932, Pepin just has so many great cigars...gotta be the Don.

I've only had the '68, '48, and the Miami, but I didn't care for any of the new blends I've had so far.

If I had to go to my humidor and pick out one cigar from either to smoke it would be the Padilla Miami Robusto, I just love the flavors I get from it and its Corojo wrapper!

But overall there is no doubt that Pepin makes more better cigars then Padilla, but then again who makes (blends) more cigars then Pepin?

This was a great cigar. The new blend is good, but it is just not the same.

I would need to expand the number of Padillas I have smoked to really make an educated decision, but right now it is DPG if you gave me the choice.

Haven't had enough Padillas to really make a firm decision. But from what I have had, I'd go with Jose Garcia

I prefer a Padilla made by DPG. The 1932's were some of the best cigars I have had.

Don Pepin Garcia all the way. I have had many good Padilla cigars but can't hold a candle to DPG. IMHO. :ss

Without a doubt, Pepin. I really want to like the Padillas but for some reason the few of his new blends I've smoked just don't do it for me. The Obsidians are good after 6 months rest, at least the first half is. The last half gets pitched.

I have never smoked any Pepin and immediately lit another right after the first . Have done this with the Padilla Habanos Toro several times now . One of my new favorite NC's now .

Amoung these 2 it'd be DPG but if it were AJ Fernandez and DPG it would be a tough call for me.

As I said I would tell you all my preference but after I herd from the BOTL. Well my vote is in and it is DPG but I still love my Padillas now and again.

Thanks for your vote and advice! :tu:2

I have only smoked 2 Padillas. 1 was a Padilla Miami old blend by DPG, and the other was a '68. The Miami was very good, the '68 was blah. I've smoked several DPG's and I enjoyed most of them. I voted DPG although I am no DPG fanboy.

I bought a Padilla sampler from a buddy, one of each vitola they blend, and only enjoyed the Miami. The rest, IMHO, were rockets. I love pretty much everything Pepin blends.

:tpd:

The Signature 1932 is one of my favorite 'gars, but overall, I only really like about 2/3 of the Padilla line--the rest are just okay. I can't think of any Padilla cigars that I don't like at all. However, I like just about every DPG stick I've ever had, some more than others.
