The new CI catalog has a 5 Vegas Cask Strength II listed in the 5 cigar samplers.
I know the originals were discontinued or a limited release. Anyone know anything about these coming out? They aren't listed anywhere on the site except in that 5'er.
The Boutique #2 5-Star Sampler includes:
1 - 5 Vegas Cask-Strength II Toro (6" x 52)
1 - Bahia Blu Robusto (5" x 50)
1 - Graycliff 1666 Presidente (7" x 48)
1 - La Herencia Cubana Toro (6.5" x 52)
1 - Rocky Patel Decade Toro (6.5" x 52)

Damn, I want to try them. CI needs to release them in boxes or 5'ers.
Thanks for the update.

I've wondered about these myself. Was the first blend good? Was it as full-bodied as advertised?

The first blend was VERY good. I absolutely loved them but couldn't get my hands on them as often as I would have liked. Haven't tried the second blend but they will have a hard time being as good as the first.

man, I was never able to get my paws on the original release, so I don't have anything to compare the II too.

For those interested, I just got the new CI catalog and these are available ads a 5 pack in their 5 pack madness. They have actually expanded their 5 pack madness dramatically, lots of choices, some pretty good deals especially coupled with free shipping.

I tried one of these the other day. The initial start was a bit spicy, but turned into a very nice coffee/cream profile. Very smooth and built up in strength. I would say med strength full bodied flavor. Not as strong as the name suggests.

:tpd: The fivers in that list are priced well, especially the DPGs

Picked up that deal -- two 5pks of the toro for $30. I've put them in a low humidity (60-65% RH) box and will let you know how they smoke in a couple of weeks.

Man! That's a helluva price on a really nice cigar. $3 a smoke? Too bad cigar.com doesn't offer the same as CI or Joe's.
I picked up the 10th Anniversary sampler from cigar.com. It came with 20 sticks a 20 ct humidor for $100. 4 each of 5 different anniversary cigars.
I have 3 left of the 5 Vegas Cask Strength II. I must get more.:ss

When I first started my 5 Vegas addiction I picked up 3 boxes of the org. ones, if anyone wants to buy or trade, I still have a 23 left.. very nice smoke. :cool2:
They are pretty good, but not as good as the originals imo.

I won a 5er last week on the Devil site. Smoked the first one early this morning. (Sorry no pictures it was dark and I was driving.)
The pre-light aroma was slightly fruity, fresh melon, not the dried fruit smell of a very well aged cigar.
The pre-light draw was perfect, light and easy with just enough resistance.
The first inch was excellent, a woody and leather taste with some nice white pepper taste for the tongue and the nose.
BUT, after that the cigar became boring to the nub. A bitter taste, slightly metallic, was all that this cigar had to give. Very disappointing to say the least.
I'll put the other 4 away for a year or two and see if anything good develops. I'm thinking that it won't. These look very similar to Cuba Libres or the La Herencia de Cuba that CI sells. I hope to do a side by side comparison with these other cigars after the cask-strengths rest a while.
The price worked out to be about $4 a cigar, definitely not worth the price for such a boring smoke.:(

I finally got around to ordering a 5'er of these with the Joe Cigar deal today. Hopefully they come around with some rest.
Thanks for the review.
