View Full Version : USA v. Finland - Olympic hockey semi-final

US takes the early lead. Looked like the Finnish goalie tried to clear the puck and misplayed it. He was so far out, that the US player (drawing a blank on the name) basically had an empty net shot.

US is really controlling the puck, and picking off a lot of passes. Finland can't get any momentum.

This is insane. Came in late in the first and it was already 6-0. Can't believe I'm watching a hockey game with six goals and I'm not going to see any of them. It's nice to see the US playing well.

Yeah, they still couldn't score, but they at least got a couple shots on goal. Think they maybe had 2 in the first period. Total domination by the US so far.

They had 4 in the first. I haven't heard the official tally, but I think they doubled that in the first minute or so of the 2nd while they were still on a PP.

So what country are Canadiens from? Canade?

They're from many countries including Russia, USA, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belarus and Canada. The (Les) Canadiens are Montreal's NHL franchise.

Canadian's are people from Canada, and in this context The Canadian's are the team you're most likely to meet on Sunday in the gold medal game.

Aren't there more important things to get pissed about. It wasn't like there were people in the arena. I read they had been called back out on the ice after the fans had been cleared out for a picture and hung out for awhile afterwords. So it was kind of an extension of the locker room at that point in the sense it was closed to fans. You would think from the uproar that the stands were packed with impressionable ten year olds.

I don't have a problem with anything the women did. Minus the cigars it's not like that exact same scene doesn't happen every night in every hockey rink in this country. Hockey Canada had to issue an public apology despite the fact that they probably also had no issue with it. However if the men's team were to do the same thing on Sunday after all the flap surrounding the women Hockey Canada would be pissed, and rightly so, at the men's team intentionally putting them in an embarrassing position with the IOC and media.

On another note, 6-1 final...... congratulations to Team USA on winning the Olympic silver medal ;) :tf

Should be a great game on Sunday, the 2 teams are actually very equally matched. Of course we said that about the Russian's and the Finn's too, so let's hope both teams show up ready to play this time because honestly blow out hockey is boring to watch regardless of which side is winning.

You'll get a lot better game from the U.S. than you did from Slovakia, and you barely won that one. ;)

mithrilG60

I agree, Slovakia and the US play a very different style of game though. Yours is much closer to ours whereas the Slovak's play a defense trap and then try to exploit the few opportunities they spring loose. Should be a very good game to watch regardless of who ends up winning it (although that's obviously going to be Canada ;) )
