Never really had it, my grl drinks it so its not anything ive ever really been interested in trying. However i was just at my future inlaws house and went outside to burn a quick party mille fleur, the only thing to drink besides beer was disarono. So i figured ehh what the hell. To be honest i was shocked at how well the disarono paired with my smoke.. It was a little to sweet for my normal taste but really helped bring out the creaminess.. Anyone drink this with a smoke before?

I drink it straight with a cigar on occassion, I agree that is pairs suprisingly well.

Not with a smoke yet but bitter almond is one of my favorite flavors and I like it in coffee and cookies. I also think Disarono is too sweet but I love the flavor. If they could make it 80 proof...

Yea usually if im pairing with alcohol its a porter or jack green on the rocks.. but this was so good i think im going to have to pick up a bottle during the week. i think after 2 or so glasses though the sweetness may get to me.

I usually just pour a couple of fingers to last me through a cigar. My usual choices are rum, or a Porter as well....I also really dig the Patron XO Cafe tequila with a cigar.

A shot of amaretto poured in a mug of hot coffee will warm you up on a cold day. I learned this from the Greek fishermen on Long Island when they came in off their boats in the winter.

Oh I know dude. No worries!!!

Just admit that your pinkie tries to point up while your drinking it. You try to fight it but it happens, just like Peter tries Rogaine but we all know the results.;)

My pinkie is so mangled from hockey fights and injuries over the years, it points up no matter what I am doing. :r

Amaretto and scotch is well worth it. If you're going to do it, you might as well use a blended scotch like Dewar's White. But it's a great change of pace cocktail.

I grew up with this stuff as a staple in my grandfathers house. I still love it to this day, over ice. It always reminds me of my nonno.

i do enjoy a few fingers with a few ice cubes every now and then. It does pair well with *certain* cigars, even though its on the sweet side.. but the ice cubes help..

I have actually heard of morons doing this (with other types of alcohol). What would possess anyone to even think about this? :r

Add in a little 151 and light before you drop it into the budlight.. flaming dr. pepper was a college favorite.

Same here...was a staple with my grandfather as well.

The only time I see my father drinking (which is almost never) he usually has Disaronno. To be honest, I've never tried with a cigar...I usually favor bourbon, but I'm going to give some Disaronno a shot next time I smoke.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but what kind of smokes went best for people?

No Threadjack.. It has texture here...

I have found that i appreciate Cohiba with the taste of amaretto. The Creamy taste goes hand and hand with it, and it doesnt give the illusion of Overkill (and in some cases, underkill; like a light Hoyo). Something too strong wont mesh well with the sweetness, but Cohiba is still strong enough to have significant tasting notes to rise above the sweetness.. Granted, This is all purely my opinion

It was finally warm enough to enjoy a full cigar outside without me freezing my arse off, so I figured I would bust out the amaretto after dinner and paired it with a Graycliff Chateau Gran Cru. I actually really liked the pairing...the amaretto sweetness kind of added another level to the complexity becuase my taste buds were enhanced to the sweetness which I found really complemented the spice of the Graycliff.

I still have another Cohiba sitting in my humi, so it think I'll be trying that one with some amaretto soon given the great stretch of weather we've had lately up here in New England. :tu
