does not have a single Tatuaje in his humidors?

This is not a bash thread but I only tend to buy single sticks when I find Tats.

I know I am in a very small minority here and in the general cigar world.

Nope, don't own one either. Nothing against them have smoked a few and they are very good but just don't normally stock them. I guess one reason is I buy most of my inventory cigars on the daily special deals and they are seldom on one of those (even though Joe has some today which I will probably order) so I generally just pick one up at a B&M visit.

I currently only have 1 actual Tatuaje in my humidor, a black tubo. Well that's not really true, I do have a partial box of Ambos Mundos No. 2s.

I really do enjoy a Tat but I just haven't found a great deal on them yet and I generally only purchase boxes when they're on sale.

Do you like Tats?

I like the brown labels a little bit. The price kills if for me though. For just a little more I can be smoking Padron 64 maddies which are a much better cigar IMO.

I revisited the Regios last week and it was good. Oneday I will own a box or two I bet.

Did not think I would see this many with a small stock of Tats resting.

Have not smoked a lot of San Cristobals but enjoyed those that I have. I am trying to not make any purchases this month, well any more anyway - could not resist some Sopranos @ $6 each on Monday and some Padilla 68 Salomons for $3 but I ordered 20 of those and they only had 10 in stock. Got to get professional help for this buying disease and this sure ain't the place to find it!

don't worry about it man, trust me. No need to join the ranks of gushing fanboys who would traverse the depths of hell to drop $13.00 a stick on some new "limited" release.

All that said, I do have a box of noellas in the humidor, and while I love them, I probably won't buy them again as the pricing is too high. I also realized it ain't tatuaje I like as much as it is DPG's blends. Therefore, I stick with 601 blues and greens, Cubao and DPG blues for WAAAY less money.

:2 and rant off, hope this gets me in trouble.

No tat's in my humidor. I like them when I find them, but they tend to be hard to find at my local B&M's and I never think of ordering them when I am looking for cigars online...

Also, the hype around some of the tat releases coupled with the limited releases really bothers me and ends up steering me to other, easier-to-obtain brands that are just as tasty or better IMHO.

I like the cut of your jib. I have boxes of Cubao and 601 Green. I have no problem spending cash but to me they are not that special. Never understood the crazy hype. I see it with the LP stuff now too. Good cigars but for the price you can get VSG or Padrons.

I guess so. I like Tatuajes and Cabaiguans. Sometimes I think there is something wrong with me for not gushing over them like everyone else.

I definitely want to try some of the Cojonu stuff though. They intrigue me a bit.

Not sure if I am a "fanboy", but I purchased a box of both Red and Black tubos just because.... So I have at least 20 Tat sticks in my humi.... Should take delivery of a T110 5er shortly....

Only tat I even remember smoking have been a few Noella's....think 2....

Have seriously considered purchasing a box of Reserva J 21's.....

As with all my cigar purchases, I figure that if they don't "do it for me".....someone will enjoy them.....

I'll buy a single or to from time to time when I go into the B&M, because I do like Pete and DPGs products, but the prices a box of tats go for and the difficulty in finding the vitola you want is such that it's actually easier and cheaper to buy a box of CCs that I'll end up liking better anyway, so that tends to be the direction my box purchases go. For the same reasons, you'll never find me smoking any Opus or Anejos. It's ironic that Habanos LEs are REs are easier to track down than limited NCs!

Next to Padróns, Illusiones, and Fuentes, Tatuajes are some of my favorite NCs. I've got fivers and singles of Pete's stuff 'cause I think he puts out a tasty cigar, though I would not consider myself by any means to some kind of "gushing fanboy." IMO, two of his special releases are probably the best sticks he's released, and two of my favorite cigars as well: the SW Maduro and the Black Label Corona Gorda. The latter, however, is the only limited edition of Pete's that I would aggressively seek out––love those things.

Having said that, I would beg to differ with the OP's assertion that he's in the minority on the net and in the "general cigar world" because he has no Tats. I think Pete's sticks are still considered to be "boutique"––that, as such, makes them a minority in the cigar world in general. There are far more popular smokes out there, both to American and non-American smokers alike. Sure, Tatuajes have gotten their fair share of press from publications like CA, but I think the level of Tatuaje's popularity can be a bit misleading if we only gauge it through forums such as this....

Saddyly I've yet to try any. My local B@M's have very poor choices, and when I'm hunting down smokes online I usually opt for two or three boxes of something else for the same price.

If I run into them I'll be sure to give them a shot.

I personally only like the Reserva's and LR's. I can't say that I'm even mildly interested in the regular brown label line. I thought that the Noella's were good for the money, until I ordered a box and the retailer sent me Noella Reserva's instead. Since then...I never looked back. Actually...I'll take the Noella Reserva over just about any other stick I've smoked, except the higher end of the scale Padron's.

Come to think of it...I can't remember the last time I bought a Fuente either.

I kinda got mad after the whole monster thing...it just made me think a bit more about the purchases since they are more expensive. Pete makes some fantastic cigars..it's just at the price point I can have 2-3 fantastic CC's for every 1 Pete stick. I still like them and buy them...though not as much.

I've bought various singles, the only box I've ever bought was the Serie P. They are reasonable at around $130 for 30. Mixed filler, good draw, nice taste. Would not buy again though.

Now I might be wrong, but the ones you listed are not Tat (Pete Johnson) blends. Tatuaje, Tatuaje VI, Tatuaje Series P, special edition Tats (Frank, Drac, Boris) and Cabaiguan are the only line I know that could truly be considered Tats.

That was true of me until Tuesday night. I was at Cigar Inn in NYC and a few people recommended one in a red tube. I'm noobilicious enough to not really have the faintest idea what it is but since I'd already smoked a sock knocking off Don Pepin I figured I'd save that one, so it made it to the humi where it sits, topless (the tube) soaking in 68% goodness.

(I smoked a Casa Magna that night as well and I have to say... not impressed. It was fine, sure. But people keep telling me how wonderful it is and I'm not likely to buy them unless they're remarkably cheap.)

I see no hype in this well made cigar. The Tatuaje SW Reserva is my favorite smoke...medium to full-bodied and, as importantly, beautifully constructed. I'll drop some bucks for a good cut of meat from time to time and the same for this cigar. Never had one I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Generally keep 15 or so on hand.:ss

I have some because I like the variety and there are some very good Tats. The Noella Reserva and the East Coasts are two of my favorite sticks period. The pricing is tough though... A perfect example is the Noellas (not Reservas). They are a very good stick and you can tell they were blended to taste like a Monte #4. If you find a deal on them you can get them for about $150 a box. That is about 50% more than a box of Monte #4s!!! Which do you think I would buy more of???
