Going for a wedding in March, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. But also want to check out San Juan, they are a short drive apart. Most interested in good food, but looking for any tips, things to see, etc. I should have about a full day and a half to go around and sightsee, eat, smoke, etc. Thanks for any advice. :tu

Hire a taxi to take you around Old San Juan Seth. It wont be that expensive compared to an organized tour, and they know the city inside and out.

El Junqe (sp?) -The rainforest, was really nice too.

If you have time, stay a night in vieques and do the bio bay (look it up).

If you don't have time, make time. It is well worth it.

Old San Juan is a must see. We spent a day there just walking around. I don't remember the name but there is this cool hotel in the heart of town that was in a converted monastery. It had a fabulous restaurant across the street and one in the courtyard. Old San Juan was really a blast.

Do not go cigar shopping in old San Juan. Bring your own. Prices are outrageous.

Thanks for the tips guys. :tu Bio bay looks awesome, that will be a priority. I will definitely be bringing my own cigars...and ones for my family (this is the Cuban side of my family at the wedding, my cousin is the groom). I should probably bring about five boxes, but that might attract to much attention at the security checkpoints. :r

Congrats on the wedding Seth :r

I am not the one getting married my friend. :su:D

I work with a fellow from Puerto Rico and he had this suggestion:

Tell him to go to the beach at Boqueron. It is a public beach not far from Ponce.

I rented a villa on that beach. It is superb.

Unforunately I lost the coin toss and wound up with the top bunk and got drunk on rum, rolled out of bed, and cracked my head on the concrete floor and suffered a drunken concussion. Last memory I have of an otherwise fun trip.

Seth,
Does this tell my age or what?
Here is a song from my Disco days.
Came to mind with this thread.

See if you can live through the very, very long intro and wait for the words.
"Eastern Airlines......" What a name from the past. It comes in just before the 2.5 minute mark.
