View Full Version : 5 Cigars That Will Prove You Are A Man

Cheesy title, I know, but I stumbled across this article (http://www.cigarjack.net/2008/02/03/5-cigars-that-will-prove-you-are-a-man/) while enjoying a Camacho Triple Maddie. I love a good, strong cigar, so I thought I'd ask my fellow inmates: do you think these smokes live up to the hype? If not, what would be your top 5 of flavorful full-power smokes?

The title should read "5 Cigars That Will Prove You Like Strong Cigars".
Being able to tolerate and/or enjoy strong cigars has nothing to do with "being a man".

Not directed at you, Jeff. I just get tired of all the BS trying to define what it means to be a man. In a forced basso voice, "Smoking Cuban cigars proves you're a real man." or "Smoking RG 50+ proves your a real man".

Just goes to show ya that everyone is different. I think they are all good cigars but, to me, only one is what I would call strong. The Chisel.

LFD Cheroot is the stronger than those. It may prove your a man or a nut for smoking them. :ss

I've smoked the Chisel and the V before, haven't had a chance to try the others.

The two times I've smoked the Chisel, I didn't find it to be that strong.

:tpd: Mine too...all are staples in my humi. Espcially the Camacho Triple Maduro and the 601 Blue...two of my top 5 favorite sticks of all time. :tu Although I don't believe they are all strong. :2

I found the Triple Maddie delicious (nubbed it, in fact), but not overly strong. I was just curious about the others on the list. Like Peter said, maybe I should have used a different title than the one from the article... :r

I guess I must be a real man. I didn't realize this until I saw the photos, but I smoked the LFD Chisel at a herf just a couple of weeks ago. Then followed up with a Oliva O perfecto right after. I picked up a chisel just to see if it's really that strong, and ended up accidentally smoking it without even knowing what it was.
Didn't knock me on my a a$$ at all.
Look out women.;)

I don't know about the T110 but the JdN Antano has been out for a few years at least. I would guess 2006 or earlier.

I can't think of a cigar that knocked me on my ass before other than the edge maduro, but that was my very first cigar that I've ever had and this was years ago. The Camacho TM was just full of flavors imo, the LFD Cheroot was full bodied but did not do it for me. Hmmm gotta think about this one.

That's kinda how I feel about the CAO Italia. Loved the Brazilia, but the Italia just seemed strong for the sake of being strong.

I don't know what it is about the Essencia...I normally smoke strong spicy sticks with no issues whatsoever. Camacho Triple Maduros, LFD Maduro Chisels...my flavor profile has been the stronger, the better. But that Essencia makes my eyes water and stomach flip every time I smoke it. Don't get me wrong, they are tasty as hell...but damn...

I don't know what the deal is with The V being on there, but its not that "manly" or strong, IMHO. I feel its more flavorful yes, but it doesn't seem to overly so. haven't had the figurado or the torpedo but I have them to try soon.

The last time I got sick was caused by smoking a EO 601 Blue Label Maduro on an empty stomach. The only other ones on the list that I have smoked are the Oliva Serie V and San Cristobal. I wouldn't classify either one of these as "stong" cigars.

Others I would include:

El Rico Habano
Habana Leon(Cigar King exclusive)

I have smoked almost all of the five, and didn't think they were that strong. I love the JDN Antono as well. I think I am stoked on nicotine all the time anyway cause of my smokeless tobacco use. I have talked to a few others who also use smokeless tobacco and they smoke the strong one's and don't get buzzed or overpowered by them either. I don't feel more manly because of it though.:)

That's an interesting point. I wonder if the fact that I was a cigarette smoker when I got into cigars contributed to my preference for the stronger sticks.

Not sure about the preference part Jeff, but I know that the nicotine absorption from either dipping or smoking is a lot more than you get from smoking cigars. I have only had a couple cigars that made me a little nauseous and prolly only cause I smoked em early and hadn't had anything to eat.

The LFD DL deserves to be up there. One of the only sticks that can make me sit down.

The Camacho is pretty strong as well.

The 601 Green is stronger than the Blue IMO.

The San Cristobal is not strong at all.

The Oliva V is spicy but not terribly strong.

I agree, this and the Partagas Black. I've smoked 3 of the 5 and I didn't know those were suppose to be strong. I'd rather smoke any of those 5 before smoking another Partagas Black, even though it's been a few years those always made me dizzy. When using the word "strong" do you think the article is equating strong to taste or to nicotine strength. I like strong "tasting" cigars while I don't care for cigars High in nicotine content. Hell, if I want a lot of nicotine I'll go back to chain smokin cigs!:r

I guess I'm just missing it with the Partagas Black, I "never" thought it was anything more than "maybe" a medium bodied cigar!

....and lastly, I'm sure everyone noticed that list was done in February 2008, damn near two years ago now.
