View Full Version : Conan or Leno?

Which team are you on? Either way, NBC looks ridiculous over this whole debacle. Conan needed more time IMHO. Conan lost the older audience, but the younger generations love him and would grow old with him if NBC had given him the opportunity. Whether you like him or hate him, I hope we can all agree, "Shame on NBC".

Conan! :banger

Shame on NBC for moving him and his crew out there and within months do this to him. Leno should stick to collecting cars and let Conan get his chance in the spot light IMO. Go Brookline, MA!

They both suck.
Johnny re-runs would probably get higher ratings.

:rThere's some truth to the Johnny reruns! I wish I could see them again, as I was too young to stay up that late when Carson was on.

I'd take either one.

What amazes me is the Letterman crap that got old back in the 80's...but is STILL on TV.

I like Conan's humor more than Jay's. I think they're both fighting for survival and Jay has the upper hand. I hear NMC is playing hardball with Conan and saying if hey doesn't take the 12:05 spot, he can't have a show anywhere for 3 1/2 years. That would suck for him but mostly for his crew.

Tobii, I don't think they had TV back when you were a kid in the 1880's, now quit talkin' out yer arse, old man.

That would suck for all parties involved. Conan has enough money to survive for that long, but Andy Richter, the band, the writers, and all the others who relocated to CA from NY for seven months of work will be screwed big time...

Some people say Conan's ego is responsible, but I think he's telling the truth when he wants to save the institution that is The Tonight Show. But I will no longer watch it when he leaves.

Also, is Jay the real reason behind this? All signs point to yes, but I haven't heard anything official about it being about him. I know he has some bigger role within the ranks of NBC, so I would assume it to be true.

Either way they need to get rid of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Boring show.

Not only the late night mess, but NBC has to backfill all that prime time space that they wasted on the suckfest that is Leno's "variety" show.

NBC's affiliates were screaming about the poor ratings leading into their local news. They threatened to stop airing the Leno's show, unless NBC changed it.

I doubt this is a "Jay" move. It's more of an NBC trying to save a buck, which they did, at the expense of two funny guys careers.

I really dug Conan on Late Night, but his Tonight Show lost some edge...or something...it's still funny, I just remember watching it and LMAO! I never watched Leno. I caught the earlier show a few times. He seems to have better report with the celebrities.

It might have something to do with his time slot. After midnight he might be able to get away more vulgar words or topics that he can't at his current time slot.

But the affiliates were complaining about Jay, not Conan. If they took his show away, then he would have to go somewhere. He could have retired like he was supposed to do...

I don't think either of them are particularly funny, I'm betting that this will be the beginning of the ultimate decline and death of the late night talk show. Honestly they're all pretty boring and repetitive. The format was fine when Johnny Carson was hosting because there wasn't much else to compare it to, now almost 2 decades on since he left and the format hasn't really evolved? Meh.

If I'm going to watch late night TV it'll be something that's actually entertaining and somewhat relevant to current events like The Daily Show and The Cobert Report.

Were I in charge at NBC, I'd try to steal Craig from CBS, and to hell with both Conan and Jay. I never liked Conan's soph-moronic humor, but he has handled this situation with some class. As for Leno - well, late-night TV hasn't seen such a primadonna since Jack Paar.

Yeah, neither...the only really funny late night guy these days is Craig Ferguson...everyone else sucks...

Not sure if evolving is what late night needs. The nightly news hasn't evolved much and it still gets ratings as well as the local news. Talk shows don't need to evolve to survive. What can it evolve into?

I could deal with that. Craig is funny!

I used to like Leno for his somewhat corny comedy and "Headlines", but now I believe that his ego is the reason that Conan is about to be jobless. Someone please prove me wrong, but I'm going to boycott The Tonight Show after Conan's last performance. I am not a Letterman fan at all, but I'd rather watch him than a backstabber (or should I say Chinstabber).

Fox has already extended and invitation to Coco. If he goes there, he can get back to doing the more edgy stuff he did on Late Night.

Loved Johnny.

Still Love Conan (worst decision NBC has made)

IMO Letterman totally SUCKS. So does his little cronie Paul.

I think Leno sucks because he has terrible writers (unless he is writing his own stuff, which I doubt). He himself is somewhat funny but his jokes stink.

I hope so. I miss him on "Late Night". "The Tonight Show" is basically the same stuff, but less edgy.

I side with Conan. He's funny on air, and he's a good writer. (He used to write for the Simpsons.) Leno couldn't write a good joke if you put a gun to his head.

He can't tell anyone else's jokes and make them funny either. He is incredibly lame.

I'm in the "They both Suck" camp.

Actually, I think they all suck, these two, Letterman, etc, they all are some of the non-funniest people i've ever seen.

The way media is changing these "late night" hosts are going the way of the dinosaur, and that's a good thing.......:r
