Just got engaged and going to be heading up to Montreal with the unlucky gal for a weekend in the near future. Can anyone point me in the direction of a cigar shop they enjoy?

I ran a few google searches so I know where shops are just hoping for some local insight.

There is a Casa del Habano shop on Sherbrooke St. They have a smoking lounge, but you need to purchase a cigar there smoke there. There are also a few on Ste Catharines St in the downtown area. Vasco Cigars is a high end shop with cubans and non cubans. A really nice place to smoke a cigar is called Stogies on Crescent st. You can bring your own cigars and there is no cutting fee. Its a big lounge with good ventilation and Sleeman beer on tap.

There will be no place to actually smoke a cigar in Montreal. As of March 31, 2006, it is illegal to smoke indoors in any environment in Quebec where people are working. This includes bars, restaurants, garages and even tobacco factories. This extends to most of Atlantic Canada (with exception of First Nations areas).

Casa del Habano has a lot of CCs, but I found them to be pretty snobby. There is a "mens" store off St. Catherine called Vasco. They have a lot of nice stuff there!

Same laws here in Mb as well, however the local B&M has been given special privileges to allow smoking at certain times of the day.

The stogies website seems to imply that they have been given a pass by the government and you can smoke there. Looks like Vasco and Casa del Habano are close to where we will be staying. I will pop in to both.

They are a lot more strict here in NS. But we only have two b&m's in Halifax. There were about five other b&ms but they went out of business because of this law....

You cant smoke in Vasco, but Stogies is about a 5 min walk from both LCDH and Vasco.

Incorrect. Well correct, but incomplete. Cigarette smokers are SOL, but cigar smokers are in pretty good shape in this city...

Wow! Really? I had no idea.... I visited about two years ago right when I was getting into cigars. Queue de Cheval is great! Rib n' reef wasn't all that great.

There used to be a cigar store in Old Montreal named Henri Poupard Tobacconist. I don't know if it is still there but that's where I bought my first box of MC's
