Cigars Int has a good deal on Gurkha cigars (30 cigars fro $69). I have never had one...Are they any good? Is this a good deal? Thanks

I've had 4 Gurkha cigars: 2 were just fine, and I did not like the other 2. The reason I choose not to purchase more of the 2 that I didn't dislike is the price. :2

Smoke what you like, like what you smoke.
I don't like Gurkhas.

Some love Gurkhas, others hate them.
Some love Opus X, others hate them.
I have had Gurkhas I really enjoy, but usually the price isn't in line w/what I'd like to pay for them. Personally, there are too many different lines in this sampler, so I'd stay away. Get a couple Gurhkas here and there to sample them before jumping in on a deal like this.
But that's just my personal opinion.
Smoke what you like, like what you smoke.
I don't like Gurkhas.
That's as nice of an answer you'll ever get from the Admiral of his opinion on Gurks!!!
I liked them at first, but then a run of about 10 really awful ones has me on the dislike side. I'd recomend getting a sampler and trying a few (Of the hundreds) and see if you like them before jumping on a box. I'd send you a few but all that I had remaining have made their way to the troops.

Gurkha probably makes at least 30 blends. Some are considered good, some not.
What it boils down to is what you like. If you are not sure what you like yet,it might be a good sampler.
Personally,I would look for a sampler that covers a few different brands.

I used to smoke A LOT of Gurkhas ... some were quite good, but my tastes changed.
I'll make you an offer ... I don't have 30 sticks left, but I know I have 15 or so. If you make a $25- to the Troop Support Fund, I'll send you a nice 15+ stick Gurkha Sampler. PM me for details if this piques your interest.

I had some I like, and some I didn't. I really like the Gurkha Xtra Fuerte cigars, but don't really care for the Grand Age cigars.

Ha, I just packed up about forty+ Gurkhas to be sent off to the troops. God willing they will have the time to smoke those huge things. :ss

The only ones, of many that I have smoked, is the Legend Anniversario, Been able to score them relatively cheap on Cbid, I have a shaggy Churchill from an event at my B&M. Got a Black Dragon for xmas from a friend, going to give it a shot, but from what a i've gleaned from the lot here, is that don't give them more then one short. Which is reasonable, why smoke something you don't like?

As if you needed more opinions, to me, the Black Dragon is the only one that ever made me want another.

I have had some inexpensive Gurkhas that were worth the price and some expensive ones that were not. Find your own path through their varieties.

While I still have an assortment of Gurkhas in one of my humidors, I've given up on the Gurkha brand because they just have too many labels. I got overwhelmed and confused. I sometimes feel like Rocky Patel is heading down that path too, though I really like some of his stuff.

Just tried my first Gurkha, a double madurro. I wasn't terribly impressed.

Their website shows over 40 different lines, some with several different sizes.
How can you make so many cigars and have them all taste like dirt?

:tpd: Only tried the one so far, but it just wasn't good. I could not put my finger on what it was exactly. As I told my wife, " I don't know what it is exactly, but I'm just not enjoying this smoke."

Nha, if it was like all the ones I tried, you would have known it at the time. There is no mistaking it, like eating turf on the football field. :)

I want to try some, but their prices are putting me off. I have trouble spending $8+ for a smaller cigar or $11+ for a larger size, when many people say they aren't that great. Even the shop owner said you'll need to try a few before you find one that you'll like. I can't bring myself to do that for $8 each.

IMO, save your $$$ for other smokes.

I've tried some of the Gurkhas. The only ones I liked were the Black Dragon, Blue Steel,
and Gran Reserve. Those ones aren't anything special, but still enjoyable. The Dos Capas was okay but way too mild. Everything else I've had from them did taste like dirt.
I got a few from Vin though recently and I can't wait to try the BOER. It's gotten some pretty good reviews.

The Gurkhas I didn't like didn't taste quite like dirt. They tasted more like peat moss or something. It was as if a bog and a swamp had a baby in my mouth :(
