Last night, Kate (nerfGIRL) and I stood in line at the local Walmart for 1 1/2 hours to get ourselves new laptops. We each scored a HP laptop with most bells and whistles for $398 (regularly $900) as the clock struck midnight on Black Friday. :banger

What did you score on Black Friday?

I drove down the road and couldn't find a parking space so I came home. My time is worth more than saving $50 on a tv.

Made 93.00 an hour working a football game Yesterday, and working 8 hours of football games today at a good rate. I decided to take toms route and sleep because I made more than enough money in these two days to compensate for any Black friday deal. Unless I would have saved over a 1000 for something I didnt need. :r

My Walmart score was pretty painless. I stumbled across it. We didn't even know it was going to be at midnight. They had a manager starting a line at 930pm so we just looked at each other and decided to hop in. I won't be caught sleeping in front of Best Buy overnight or anything!

I slept in to my normal time I wake up for work. Priceless.

I did buy upgrades for my wife and my phones, but that was online.

Nice! I was shocked to see Walmart allow people to take more than one sale item per person. There were folks buying laptops, TV's and Ipods in a single purchase.

Woke up late (4:40 AM) but still got to Best Buy by 4:59 AM. Bought a Toshiba laptop for $450ish for my niece & nephew, then a Sony 5.1 sound system for me. Also a 20" flat screen monitor for my computer. I was happily back asleep on the couch at 630 AM. I decided next year I will sell coffee, donuts, hot chocolate and my cheap cigars while waiting for the doors to open.

Almost every house I go into while I am working (police officer) they claim to be poor and "times are hard" but they have cigarettes and a big screen.

Not to say that I'm not happy for RPguy, as thats an awesome deal, I just love how the govt. and media says we're in a "recession" and people are still lining up around the block to get deals on stuff they don't need, or "can't afford". Personally, I am not feeling much of the "crunch" from the economy, and still feel comfortable buying whatever I want, but I am sure there are a lot of people who can't afford to buy those big screens or computers, but they are doing it anyway, because they got a "deal".

Logicality is not always dominate in a society which promotes extreme materialism and addiction such as ours. If you were poor would you not want to come home to something to escape the daily grind and rat race which seem to lead to no end?

I would want to but would focus on taking care of my family, not my Iphone. I bought a new car recently, a Honda Accord, nice car. My friends said "you make good money, you hardly have a mortgage, why not get a benz? I told them when my son's education fund is at 100% in the bank, I will buy a benz, not before.

Or you could not waste your money on crap and work on getting a decent place to live. We have very modest cars clothes and belongings at our house. Our newest car is 6 years old. Our oldets is 15. We bought our home in the lowest crime rate area of San Jose with some of the best schools. I know people who live in crap areas, with escalades and iphones, and amazing tvs.

Its all prioritys. Mine is my children not my percieved appearance. :tu

The only 2 places I went this morning was Lowes and Home Depot.

Got a $30 Shop vac and some 1/2 off saw blades. The wife and dogs slept till noon, I was back home by 6:30 am and working in the shop by 7.

I drove by the local Walmart at 6 and there were about 6 cop cars an ambulance and a fire truck in the parking lot. Lights a blaze and a ruckus out front.

You could not pay me to make the turn into that nut house this morning.

We lost our digital camera when we moved so I got a pre-black Friday deal on a Fujifilm 10.2 megapixel with a 2 gb card and case for $80 shipped on Amazon.com (but that was Tuesday so not sure it counts :)).

I would really like a small LCD for our bedroom but I'm waiting until they break the $100 barrier.

Got a 32 inch LCD TV for the bedroom, $230.

Same here Scott. I was able to score mine online instead of going to the store so at midnight I got my order in w/3 year warranty for $29. The TV was $248 for the 32 inch and will pick it up next week. Total, I will have the first years warranty and then add an extra 3 years warranty for $29,,,and I got to sleep in all day today.

Thankfully for me, Best Buy put all of its Black Friday deals up for Silver RewardZone members on Wednesday. Heck they even had 3 of the doorbuster sales available so I grabbed 3 Samsung 32in TV's for gifts for the fam as well as a few Blu Ray's for $9 (Wolverine, Reservoir Dogs and The Fountain) and also picked up one of those Nikon Coolpix camera's as a Birthday present for someone. All in all it was a good haul and I didn't have to fight any crowds :)

I guess frequently spending money at Best Buy does have its advantages occassionally :tu

Dropped the wife off at Wal-Mart at 5 and I headed off to Home Depot.

Got in line at 5:06 and was the 16th person in line. By the time the store opened at 6 there had to be at LEAST 250 people on line.....for Home Depot!?!?!?!?!?

Well I ended up getting a shop-vac for $20, a 4 burner grill for $179 and a patio heater for $99....and a 10% military discount!!!!!!

Got an LG370 Blu-ray player with netflix streaming for 77$ from Frys. Was out in the cold at 4am and got the 16th player off the palette. :D

Only thing I got today, but with our movie library, we needed a bedroom blu-ray player.

Was so tempted to buy a 374$ Sony Bravia 32" at Best Buy for the bedroom as well but just didn't want to put it on a card, which is where it would have been going.

Paying with cash during the Christmas Season saves a lot of grief come spring...

Going to Macy's tomorrow (this morning) with the wife for some christmas shopping... ughh... oh well.. We'll be done with our christmas shopping 2 days after thanksgiving. Can't beat that really.

Oh yea, I got the Insignia bluray (that does Netflix) two weeks ago for $99. Some people thought it would go down to $89 on Friday but it didn't. I was planning on getting another Roku Netflix player for our bedroom but I ended up getting a blueray with it built in for the same price - that was a no-brainer.

It seemed like every store was willing to one-up each other with early deals to see who could get people's money first.

I had to fight a guy off to get the 55" 1080P lcd @ Costco ($1150), last one, he was in line behind me, and he grabbed the other end of the box. I said something like "get back in line!" .. I say "something like" cuz I dont really remember lol I was out in the cold for over an hour and was 14th in line.

Then Directv came by around noon and I've got some sweeeet 1080p feeds now.

Decided to try my luck at RadioShack to get the $13 Wii charging station around 8pm... they were sold out.

Zipped over to WalMart about 8:30p, got the 'pole position' parking spot and thought "this must be a sign", walked in and was like OMG... Grabbed the last PS3 bundle for $299, which was the one I *really* wanted to get the whole day. Came with inFAMOUS, Arkham Asylum AND The Dark Night on blu-ray. Even the sales guy was like wtf?!? lol

Got a bike for my son for 60% off and a little thing for our baby girl.

Got a TomTom GPS for $59 and a portable DVD player for $59 (for my Mom and MIL)

Also used Bing cash back to get about $40 or so back from getting stuff online.

All in all, not a bad day :) I got everything I needed/wanted.

Meandered over to Big 5 around 10 and picked up a $20 golf bag caddy, some balls and a $20 RC dragster. Then visited my son working at Pizza hut.
