I've been in the lifestyle of a survivalist for a few years. This means simply that I'm an average tax-paying Joe, but I try to keep at least 3 months of food/water/survival supplies onhand and arm myself with the knowledge of how to survive in adverse conditions.

Do we have any folks on board with a similar mentality?

Here's a teaser pic of a friend's survival preps he keeps.

well, I'm not sure that is being a survivalist or merely following FEMA preparation guidelines or recommendations from the LDS Church (a leader in emergency preparation - check out their websites).

I do amateur radio emergency response and am on our local list as willing to be deployed just about anywhere in the world if we get asked. I have several months worth of food, water, shelter, clothes, gas for the portable generator, portable radios capable of world-wide communications, antennas, cigars and many other things.

I am decidedly NOT a survivalist.

Good point, but I think the title 'survivalist' applies however you choose to apply it.

I think it applies to my situation as I try to be self reliant and prepared for natural or man made disasters through a combination of equipment, resources and more importantly, training. :)

Seriously though - I have to say that - my wife has more stuff than what's picture on just one shelf of her pantry.
Just seems a little lacking there -

Every day I don't get snuffed by the wife qualifies me for the Title. So.. sure.

Never much saw the point in surviving the end of civilization. I say, take me too.

www.survivalblog.com a little add heavy but some great reads, and info on survival. Great resource.

Read the articles about the young fur trapper living in alaska for months. A lot of good insight and knowledge.

At our cabin ( shared with my uncle ) there's enough food / ammo / general supplies to last 6-9 months depending on rationing.

:tpd: He needs some rifles, shotguns, and a handgun or 2. Ammo is a requirement.
