This is basically the notes I took on my iphone as I smoked this one earlier today.

Oily, toothy, smooth wrapper. It almost felt silky. Nice and dark color too. No blemishes. Firm but not hard. Kinda soft at the foot, where it looked loosely packed. It has a nice triple cap. Clipped easily with no damage. Easy draw with some spice in prelight draw.

Lit easily. Good initial flavor with some spice through the nose. Good volume of smoke. Some coffee notes. Some ammonia-these are still very fresh. The ash came off easily after about an inch. It could have hung on a little longer, but I typically ash it at this point, and I had no trouble doing so.

I'm having some burn problems, but that's probably because of the breezy 50 degree weather. Lots of nicotine. I smoked it down to about 1.5" and went inside. This breeze is killer.

Overall it was a decent cigar. I think it needs a couple months of rest. Mine only got about 2 weeks. It's also not very expensive, at around $6 I think.

Never heard of this one. Is it a new regular line or a limited run?
Thanks for the review.

I know it is new, but I don't know about how long the production will be...

I think it's a new addition to RP's regular line up; I've heard its the same blend as the Winter '09.

"Rocky Patel 1961, named for the year Rocky Patel was born, is a medium-to-full-bodied cigar with Nicaraguan-grown filler leaves, a Honduran binder and an Ecuadorian-grown, Habano-seed wrapper." http://www.cigarcyclopedia.com/webapp/content/view/1509/27/

Here's another review with some info on it as well...

I think the "Patel Bro's" is the same at the Winter 09. This is an entirely different blend....

I did really enjoy the Winter 09, so I should probably try the Patel Brothers.

This is what I thought as well ... could be wrong though. Either way, I'd like to try both. I tend to like Rocky's stuff. The last one I had was a Renaissance which I thought was surprisingly good.

Couldn't see the picture at work. Wow, that's an ugly band!
