Soupy Sales, the rubber-faced comedian whose anything-for-a-chuckle career was built on 20,000 pies to the face and 5,000 live TV appearances across a half-century of laughs, has died. He was 83. Sales died Thursday night at Calvary Hospice in the Bronx.

All I have to say is that Soupy was pretty darn cool. He was still an icon and F-ing funny when I was growing up... I smoke to Soupy!

If You See Kay, tell her I love her?

Soupy was a man that turned a good gag. Head and shoulders above 95% of the hacks working the comic beat today.

My Mom actually went on a date with Soupy when she was in her late teens.

RIP Soupy! Lots of good memories, lots of clean humor. The antithesis of Lenny Bruce!

It's not raining inside! Look in your daddy's humidor and send me the cigars that say "Habana" on the band.

RIP, Soupy.

I'm old enough to have watched Soupy in B&W when I was a kid in Detroit. In my house, it was great sport to surprise/shock someone with a shaving cream pie in the face when they were least expecting it. Then we would all do the Soupy Shuffle. Great times.

Sorry to hear that I loved watching The Soupy Sales Show on Rabbits Ear's
He definitely had his own style.
One of the last shows I watched. when he told all of the kids that he
collected pictures of Presidents and for us to go into mommy's and daddy's
room when they are sleeping and collect the pictures of the presidents and
send them to him. He got in deep with the networks for that one.

Yes, RIP.

A very close friend of mine from work was extremely close to Soupy and was at his bedside when he passed.

Wow,

I just found out he was born about four miles from where I live. His popularity was before my time. Guess I'll read the inevitable highway marker for the back story.

Sad to hear he's passed, but it sounds like he had a long and interesting life.
