Seriously the stupidest thing I've seen the media latch on to in a long time. I heard one reporter comment after it was all over that 'this won't be over for awhile' and there'll be 'much more to uncover' and a local reporter here even said 'we tracked down that the father once lived in Burbank (suburb of L.A.)....and I'm disgusted with myself for even watching that long.

Did I say disgusted, I mean proud.

And I remember, I was glued to my desk at work watching the whole thing live baby!

It's stupid now, but I was seriously very concerned for the safety of that child when his wherabouts were unknown. Glad he's safe, and I hope his parents beat the living crap out of him for making everyone go through that.

^^^^ This...

I could see one of my children being curious and accidently climbing into a situation like that.

A lot of people are now saying the whole thing was a hoax, the parents knew where he was and told him not to come out, that it was a publicity stunt.

But think if he had been in the balloon and swept away on wind currents. He'd land somewhere around the amazon and be annointed King From the Sky....

The sad thing is that's all the major news networks could talk about this morning. Every time I turned on the news, that's what they were going over. Hours and hours of rehashing the stupid thing.

The total and complete dumbing down continues.

The best part was the kid throwing up on the Today show:D

It was very entertaining watching this balloon float around. Definately glad the child was not in it at the time. Could have been a very bad outcome.

I hope that is not the case, but the family has been on the show "Wife Swap" two times before. I hope this wasn't just another chance for them to get on tv in the most shameful way possible.

Shoot, I throw up on the Today show every morning, and nobody cares about me!

At first it was a human interest story. It showed that we care about the well being of others. Why it is still being discussed by the media now does show a lot. I agree that there are a lot of other things that the media needs to put first.

At the very least they should garnish the parents wages for the cost of the money they spent trying to find the kid. That is if it's proven to be a hoax.

Luckily I missed the whole thing on TV and ended up reading about it online.

So was it some stupid hoax? What's wrong with people!

Appears to be.

I agree with ya there, at first it was slightly worthwhile. But the spiraling out of control has made it unreal.
