Last night I had dinner with my friend Eric who is getting sworn in today. He is off to Fort Leonardwood to join the Army. At the age of 22 he finally decided what he wanted to do and that was to make a difference. Hats of to him. God Bless!! :salute:

So, my friend Eric is back for two weeks from basic. He is loving every minute of it too. He said it was the best decision that he made. Got to hear some great stories. Here is a pic of him when he came home.

My brother is home for Christmas from basic as well. His story sounds similar to your friend.

Congrats and good luck to him.:tu

Just a quick update. Eric graduates from basic next week. Then he is on to Fort Benning for airborne school in which he thinks he should graduate March 6th or so. He has been given his assignment and was told to report to Fort Bragg worldwide deployable. He said this means that he will probably be going oversees within 45 days after arrival to Fort Bragg.

Good luck to Eric at Airborne school and when he goes down range!

Another quick update about Eric. He did graduate from basic the first weekend in Feb. Then he was able to come home for a weekend before Airborne school. Well, the sad news is he failed the physical for the Airborne school. He can retake the test again in 6 months. Now he is waiting for his deployment papers.

OK, I found out he is a 12B- Combat Engineer. What does that mean??

Means he jumps out of airplanes with an M4, a rucksack and a shovel.

:r

(er...he will be...after he goes to jump school, that is)

Looks like Eric is coming home tomorrow. Going to meet him at the airport along with Warriors Watch Riders - they provide welcome home and sendoffs for the heros of our military both past and present. From what I understand that they follow you all the way to your home. I will post pics.
