For one of my usual wild-hair reasons, I recently decided that I want to check out a Torpedo or two from Padilla. Well, woah Nellie!

Padilla Habano Torpedo
Padilla Miami Torpedo
Padilla Series 68 Torpedo
Padilla Series 32 Torpedo
Padilla Series 48 Torpedo

And that's just the ones that intrigue me!

Anybody have any advice about where to start?

... and, maybe, where to stop? :r

This is just my opinion:

Padilla Habano Torpedo - Bland bottom of the line.
Padilla Miami Torpedo - Spice bomb.
Padilla Series 68 Torpedo - nice combo of spice and tobacco, but a milder smoke
Padilla Series 32 Torpedo - This the best of the Padilla line. Period.
Padilla Series 48 Torpedo - A sweeter spice and medium body

Thanks, guys! Your advice is awesome. I'll post up my thoughts, once I've tried a couple. :ss

Agree with the Habano. It's an ok smoke, but definitely one I wouldn't seek out unless below $3 a stick.
Miami is a terrific smoke. Don't get caught up in the whole "Pepin mystique" about the previous blend because I honestly think this stick is just as good or better now.
The '68 is terrific, though agree that it is a bit milder. The oscuro version is FINALLY for sale on CI, and I look forward to receiving them on Tuesday. :D Check out Joe Cigar All-Stars (I believe that's where they are hiding) @ $29.99 for 10.
The '32 is hands down an enjoyable smoke. Wayner has this down, it's a terrific cigar. I'm sad that I'm out. :(
The '48 is another great smoke, and again, Wayner hit this on the head.

Preference: Miami, '32, '68, '48 and then the Habano.

Most of the Pads I've had have been great OTT. However, I bought a box of 68 robustos that were too mild at first. After about 4 months they developed. After 8 they were mighty.

My 2 favorites are the Miami and the 68. 32 is real good as well. Haven't had the Habano, not wild for the 48.

The Miami is the only one I haven't tried, either blend.

I have been smoking the heck out of the Miami and the '68. The '68 is fairly mild, but it has a flavor profile I just love. I've never had the '32 or '48. I will keep my eye out for them.

Padilla Obsidian isn't bad if you let it rest forever.

Every Padilla I've tried had to age first, including the Miamis. 6 months at least, a year is better. The '68 is wretched if not aged long enough.

I'm such a DA sometimes... I've smoke nearly a box of the 1932 corona gordas and have had several other vitolas... They are killer!!! I was correct on the '48s!!!!

32 - For the same reasons that everyone already stated
48 - I love this smoke. I find a lot of the same flavors that an Opus has, but of course without the power and spice.
Miami - Great all around smoke
68 - This is kinda one dimensional to me, but worth the price
Achilles - Same as the 68, but with the standard Corojo flavors.

I like 'em all, hard to pick a favorite. For the price, I think the Habanos are great. The 32s are good, but awful pricey. The others fall somewhere in the middle.

The 32' Pepin rolled is the best Padilla I've had, hands down. The newer 32 is great, but I enjoy the older Pepin-rolled over the latter.
