... before they put them in their humi? How do you remember how long they have been resting? I have thought about doing this, but was wondering if anyone else does.

I know several people do this, mostly becuase I have been bombed with cigars that have dates written on thier cello.

No, but I make sweet love to them. :r

Most cigars, no. If I can't remember when I got them, they're ready to smoke. :ss

I band all my cigars with the date, what it is, and who it is from if trade/bomb. Kinda makes the smoke more fun if I know who gifted it to me.

i keep a word document with every cigar, the date i got them, their age (if available), and who gave them to me for what occasion (bomb, buy, trade, etc) and constantly update it. seems to work out well

I do on most cigars. It helps me remember how old they are so that if I sell them, I can say "This cigar has 'x' much age on it"

I also write who I got it from.

I write the date on the cello and also write the username of the person who gifted them to me, that way I know who to send thanks to when I smoke'em :D

Nope, I toss them in the humi and smoke them when I want to. Although, I probably should start putting dates on them, and if someone gives them to me, I should probably do my best to remember who it was :r

I keep a notebook of acquisitions, departures, and tasting notes. Strictly pencil and paper right now but someday hope to computerize it (but probably will never happen).

Like most rappers, I haven't had an original idea in years. When I started getting dated sticks in bombs and trades, I started dating mine, usually on the tail of the cello. Now, I'm going to steal another idea from this thread and start adding usernames as well.

I don't date the as much as I record the box date on those great little blank cigar banks you can buy

http://www.cigarmony.com/selfadhesiveblankcigarbands-250count.aspx

I will also record any other info thats important was it a trade a PIF etc.

This is what I use. I'm very meticulous about the dates, OCD or something. When someone gives me something and don't inclued a date I just use the date I recieved and age accordingly. Mind you this is all NC stuff, I think my head would explode if I was in the dark side

I use a zebra 2-d barcode printer and generate stickers with all of the relevant information, then use a symbol mobile pda scanner to track them.

I'll be upgrading to 2-way RFID tags soon. Can't wait for that beeper feature!

Thanks to everyone for their input... I never thought of putting a username with a gifted cigar.

I love this idea, however I have a Blackberry instead. Has anyone seen an app like this for Blackberry; I have not found one in a search yet.

Back when I used to buy a ton of Connies, I'd put Avery dots on the bundles so as to grab the oldest first, letting the others age. Once I upgraded, I stopped this practice, as I bought monthly supplies instead. When I go back to bundles - and with personal finances as they are, this could be soon - I'll likely date my Connies again.

Sharpie on the cello. If no cello, with a fine Sharpie, I'll write the month and year on the cap of the cigar.

Moe's right, Ben, you're a dork.

You should be using an Excel spreadsheet, like me! :r Not only do I track age & source (trade, bomb, purchase,) but also wrapper/blend, country of origin, vitola, and I have a separate worksheet to log my own reviews, and another worksheet with addresses. Now that's uber-geek dorkiness, right there, my friend. Glad I married a smokin' hot wife before she figured that out. :ss
