WOW thanks! I have not heard of many of these cigar brands, but it appears that this site caters to the "boutique" cigar aficianado....what are your fav's from Silocigars?

CI has always been good to me, but I can't say that JR, Famous, et. al. have been bad either.

Only one vendor that I've had major problems with, so I just won't deal with them. I won't say their name, but it rhymes with a machine gun preferred by gangsters in the 1920's.

There are several very good ones but I would classify Famous as my favorite. :tu

I found beetle activity in a Oliva G from them. They said they'd prorate it. They have decent deals on samplers but other than that...
I like CI a lot. I've found most of purchases lately being from Famous Smoke Shop via Cigarmonster though. I always get incredible deals there. I'm gonna have to check out Silo. Ever since going to online retailers it's hard for me to buy from my local B&M.

Jersey. Yeah. Oops! It's the same name. They do have a nice well rounded sampler right now.
Mark. I've been wanting to try the Pinar del Rio's too. Heard a good review about them. I found a 4 pack sampler of them on cigar monster last week for $15. They still have at Famous right now but it's back to $22. If you want to try them this is a good way to do so. If you nab something from cigar monster and then put the Pinars and what ever else in your cart you'll also get free shipping on the whole order. If not then mine are coming tomorrow so I'll let you know how they are in about a week if you remind me.

I know people hate JRs but their prices can't be beat. Unfortunately, they sell very few cigars that I like. It's hard to pick a favorite though because I do most of my non-Cuban buying at the neighborhood store and I've never had a bad experience with any domestic retailer.

I have also begun finding it very hard to support my local B&M with cigar purchases, buy lighter fuel, etc from them is about it lately except for an ocassional single. I am sorry fellows but I just can't pay $10 plus tax for a smoke I can buy 5 of from Joe or the Monster for $30 or so with free shipping/no tax and have them in 3 days. I think the B&M's are going to have to see the light or many are going to fold up, I would not hesitate to pay them an extra buck or so on that smoke but not 50-100% more.

Are others finding themselves in this mindset lately?

As a B&M owner I can tell you that selling below msrp still does not make me competetive with onling retailers that don't have to worry about taxes. I do my best to have the best prices around but that is all I can do. We only have a 10% tobacco tax here in MO but in some states its 70+ percent. B&Ms in those states have no chance at all.

I like JR's prices. I've been debating on what my first "real" box will be but it will be from them. Either the Gloria's or Partagas Black's. JR has the best prices on either of those. :ss

I have the most luck with CI and Famous but I also like dealing with Serious Cigars for some of the harder to find smokes. Corona is also a regular stop. Overall I have to rate Taboo as having the best packing and service, plus the Taboo cigars are excellent.

I still end up supporting my local B&Ms, especially Timothy's Fine Cigars in Bay City Mi.

PDR are great sticks. The Oscuro is quite tasty in the robusto, and got a Habano Sun Grown as a freebie from my local B&Ms 1st annual festival.

Well, Here's something intresting, my CBid order was processed @ around 2pm on 9/22, from CI obviously via USPS. It took less then 36hrs for USPS to get it from them in PA to my Mailbox. :banger It took me longer to realize it was in the box. >.<

That said, I Like what famous has to offer over CI. Going to check out the other Shops you all mentioned

I buy from CI, cbid, famous, holts, and others and haven't had a problem. The one T.G. mentioned, will call you incessantly to try to get you to join their cigar of the month club. Their prices aren't that good anyways.

I have always tried to support the local B&Ms. Unfortunately, the owner of the one I used to frequent in Toledo is a complete tool.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions...I think I have found a new favorite cigar retailer- Famous Smoke Shop....the layout of their website is straightforward and easy to navigate, their prices are competitive, and I really like the free shipping on many items...I picked up some everyday smokes last night; a bundle of supervisor selection and a bundle of famous nic 3000's...
I can't wait to try them!

I also like the fact that Famous Smoke shop lists ALL customer reviews on cigars....not just the positive reviews....I posted a review on CI several months ago, albeit a negative one, and was censored....>:( they didn't even post it! I think most adults are smart enough to read reviews, both negative and positive, and formulate their own opinion...I think that allowing both negative and positive reviews on retailer's websites increases their crediblity and transparency.....

Well, I am not sure I have a favorite....in fact, I don't. That said, I just made my first oline cigar purchase and CI got my business.

I was bouncing between Holts, CJ and FS....but I wanted a box of Alec Bradley Tempus Terra Nova's. FS didn't have them, Holt's and CI was the same price, got a throw in from CI and that was that.....

Best thing, I saved $50 from what my B&M wanted for a box.

What, no Thompson's customers here? :r

I get virtually all my cigars from JRs. Lew carries what I like, has a price I can (barely, but still) afford, gives very good customer service that is rarely needed, and - and, I repeat, and - does not push some product he cannot supply. As I've seen complaints on here from some of you regarding backorders or cancelled orders, or orders just ignored, this should count a point or three.

$1 shipping first of month.
Just got a box of DPG Cuban Classic 1950 and Perdomo Habano Maduro robusto for $165. Pretty good deal on some good smokes IMO.

CI wants $133.95 while Cigarplace wants $93.95 for the Cuban Classics.

Famous wants $$101.93 for Perdomo Habano Corojo robusto while Cigarplace wants $77.95.

So I would say CP is a solid choice for what I smoke.

My advice would be to sign up for all the e-mail specials you can. If you know what cigar you like that is fairly mainstream, you have to check out CigarBid.com. Be Careful, it's easy to get carried away! Good Luck!
