Some of the guys were talking the other day about how hard it was to get ammo. Here's an article about it.

Good article. Ammo is starting to become available again at least in certain calibers. Thankfully I stocked up before the rush.:banger

Didn't the rush cause the shortage?

I was partly to blame for that.

Prices are unreal... but I stocked up months ago. I am not worried or anything. I just knew prices were going to go up. The last box of 50 357 XSTs I bought was almost $70!!! 38 wad cutters are still not too bad though.

Yeah, it is suddenly becoming available again now that the price has increased 2-3X.:banger

I have a few hundred rounds of .40 and haven't been to the range in a year because I don't want to replace it at these ridiculous costs. 5 years ago 100 rounds was $16 at Walmart - now, $37 and out of stock. That's for the crappy white box!

I have plenty of ammo in the calibers for my handguns and long guns. I also have enough powder, bullets and primers to load at least another 10K. The only thing I want to buy is more .45 bullets, cuz I only have about 3000K left. :c

But I used to shoot competiton using a .45 and I'd easily go through 1500 rounds a month. :D

Try getting ammo in MA! :c

It's crazy how 1,000 rounds for my SKS went from Under $100 to around $300! :bh

Try finding primers and powder.

I was at a gun show a couple of weeks ago and my buddy couldn't get .380 at any price. They ran out the first day.

Fortunately, I stocked up on most of the calibers I shoot years ago. Between cigars and ammo, I'm good for a while. :D

Bought 5000 rounds of .223 the day after "the" election.

I only have a few hundred rounds of 9mm and .22, maybe a few boxes each of .380 and 30-06, 45 and 38. 40 rounds or so of 12 gauge. Slim pickens around here.

I do however have 3 boxes of .40SW Ranger for some reason. Don't even own anything they would fit in

I kept meaning to do some stocking up just never got around to it.

I suppose if you head them off and trade me for a ninja katana, I hear the zombies don't care for those :r

Good thing I can get a box a month from my department. Might have to start stockpiling it. :D

I see ammo as an investment. The XM193 that I bought for $180 before the elections is now going for $235.

That is certainly doing a lot better than my IRA.

If the zombies invade your better off with a 12 gage loaded with "slugger" rounds. I have a saiga for the zombies.

Strange :tf

Might have to make a date at the range for them to meet. :D

Where did you get that picture of my workplace? :D

I never had trouble getting what I "needed"...but then I didn't go to stores in the first place. Local gun shows still had a good supply.

At one point this spring ammo was getting so scarce one dealer (who normally doesn't sell ammo) went in back and came out with a can of surplus GI .45. I bought three boxes just for the novelty...it was mostly WW2 ammo repacked into 50 round boxes in the sixties by Olin-Matheson, with no consistency as to maker or year.

They found some real crap to repackage too...can you imagine loading your .45 or Thompson mags before going out into the Vietnamese jungle (or into a tunnel) and finding Peters ammo from 1917????

Sounds like a little bit of a grab bag of ammo (some of this and some of that).

I am all set it in .45 (1000) and 5.56/.223 (2000) and Shotgun Ammo (400) but need to pickup some Match .308 for my new Savage 10FCP rifle.
