(even though they play in New Jersey ... ;) )

Since other teams had their own threads...

So Blue Faithful, what do you think of the breakout game of Steve Smith and Mario Manningham? I must admit to some tempered excitement because it's nice to see receivers to whom Eli looks very comfortable throwing.

It softens the blow of losing Plaxico Burress to utter stupidity and Amani Toomer's reliable hands.

Also does Eli look any cooler and more collected than in the last few minutes of a game with a chance to win on the line?

Are the Giants 3-0 after Tampa? I say YES!

Manningham's speed is a beautiful thing. He definitely broke a few ankles with those impressive jukes. I'll be following his development.

I still don't totally trust their RBs or DBs - Manning can't live by bread-and-butter dumpoffs alone.

No doubt, though I expected the Bucs to play a little better than they did. As for Tynes, I def agree with you, two easy kicks botched in back to back games. This one was only a 21 yard kick!

Tom Coughlin is one of the best coaches in the league at using adversity as a motivating factor. The team got the news Thursday that starting safety Kenny Phillips would be placed on injured reserve. It's an obvious setback, but the defense didn't miss a beat Sunday.

The Giants will travel to Kansas City to face a winless Chiefs team next Sunday. It might sound like the perfect time for a letdown (see: Cleveland in 2008), but I don't think it will happen. I think the Giants are the best team in the league right now, although you could certainly make an argument for the Baltimore Ravens. Last week, the Giants' front seven was embarrassed by what the Cowboys accomplished in the running game.

Good win over a team the Giants were supposed to beat so it was nice to see that they pounded them early and often.

Steve Smith is officially "The Man" now. What a show!

And welcome to the end zone, Hakim Nicks! Very nice RAC!

Scary moment for Eli but it looks like the injury won't be all that bad but another excellent performance from he QB.

In the meantime, what the hell is up with Tynes?

A day after hurting the heel in a non-contact injury in a win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Manning walked into the locker room with neither a boot, a crutch nor much evidence of heavy tape on his right foot. The only obvious sign of an injury was a slight limp.

Manning was to have an MRI on his right leg late Monday afternoon.

"I don't think it's nothing to be worried about. It will be getting rid of the soreness," Manning said.

WHEW!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4533731

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Eli Manning is going to have to play in pain if he wants to continue as the New York Giants quarterback.

Manning was diagnosed with inflamed tissue in his right foot late Monday following an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. It's a problem that usually develops over time and lingers.

ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen first reported the diagnosis.

Team physician Russell Warren told Manning he could play this weekend against the Oakland Raiders if he could tolerate the pain.

"It's not as serious an injury as [the doctor] has seen before, where it's the whole foot that's hurting," Manning said in an interview on ESPN Radio in New York. "It's just kind of a portion of it."

The Giants (4-0) have listed Manning as day to day with the plantar fasciitis, which has caused soreness and swelling in the heel and arch area on the bottom of his foot.

OK Wrecking Crew ... what're your gut feelings? Do the Giants make the playoffs?

I actually think they will win against Carolina and Minnesota because the Panthers are awful and the Vikings won't be playing anyone (unless Brett Favre has his way that is).

That only leaves Green Bay and/or the Cowboys to lose one game.

WEEK 16:
Seattle @ Green Bay
Dallas @ Washington

WEEK 17:
Philly @ Dallas
Green Bay @ Arizona

I'm hoping that the Skins were so thoroughly embarrassed by their absence against the Giants that they look to put a hurting on the boys.

Definitely well within reach. The cowboys seem to want to play themselves right out of the hunt and Philly can't be loving the juggling QB scenario. Nice win but a bit sloppy on offense, too many turnovers but thank goodness the defense was ready for anything Dallas had to offer.

A wise choice, Susan.

OOH, dem's fighting words! :su ;)

When I lived in Manhattan I did love the pizza but not the true New York style. The kind that folds over is always way too greasy for me. But the classic brick oven style kind that you find at the good Italian restaurants is perfect and there was lots of that in the city. I love Chicago style pizza but I ate it less frequently just because it's so filling. I, again, usually ate the more hand tossed smaller brick oven style pizzas there too. Pequod's in Chicago though is like heaven in a pan. Sigh.

That being said pizza in Texas is a TRAVESTY. It's like ketchup on cardboard glued together with grease. BLEEEETCCCCH. I can't eat more than one piece without feeling ill.

As for the Giants I thought it was a good call. Aside from having Eli and a crazy defense this year they have a tendency to sneak up on people and terrorize them in the playoffs. I was at that Cowboys playoff game a few years back and I'm still mildly pissed at the Giants for killing the fact that I also had bad ass seats to the NFC Championship.

Pretty disgraceful exhibition by the Giants. No pass rush. No help for thomas on dez bryant. Offense was no better. Bonehead play by Nicks and maybe eli too on the pick 6. OLine penalties. The hold that cost them six was bogus but they should never have been in position to be hurt by a bad call like that.
The only bright spot was Ramses Barden looked really good when he got his chance to play with the steve smith injury. And now it turns out Barden's probably gone for the season. Ligament damage and broken ankle.
