I'm moving and have a bucket or two of old bands.

Do I move them with me and continue to look at them getting dusty in a bucket or do I just chuck 'em and look at the event as moving on to the next phase in my life?

If you don't want them see if a local B&M would want them.

I voted no... I hang on to most of them telling myself I am going to make something out of them. I don't want to be the only one with the problem!!!

If it's a new cigar to me and doesn't suck, I keep the band.

EDIT: Sorry, thought you were asking what we do with them...

Finally got started tonight making some cigar band "art" to put up on the wall in my office.
I have a hard time even when someone else throws the band away.

I couldn't vote in your survey because there wasn't a category for me.
I hold onto my bands until someone here asks for them to do a project of some sort - then I ship 'em out for a noble purpose.:)

I keep the bands. However if I already have a tone of them they go in the bin. Eg CAO MX2 bands :D

If you decide to get rid of them, burn them in a fire. That's more dignified than just tossing them in the trash.

Keep them, if you change your mind in the future you can toss them. But if you toss them now, you can never get them back. :2

Keep them. Eventually you will want to make something and then you will miss not having them.

I voted keep them. Did you have a use for them in mind when you started keeping them?

If i'm about five drinks into the night and someone gives a cigar I will hold onto it if I liked it and want to remind myself what it is, otherwise I chuck'em.

I say keep them, because you never know when you are going to think of a way to use them.

I keep all of my bands. I've seen some great projects, using cigar bands over the past few years.

I don't know if I'll ever get around to creating something using them, but I figure that if I toss them, it'll take forever to replace them. :D

If they get that much in the way, I can toss them then.

It's the same reason I keep all of my empty cigar boxes. :tu

I've thought about keeping them, but they almost always end up in my ashtray or straight in the bin.

I didn't vote because I've been in both camps so often. I go through spells where I keep every band, good or bad, and then I go through cleaning spells where everthing gets pitched.

Not much of a help.... sorry. :r

I voted for keeping them

I keep mine. I have a journal type book and I glue them in it with a glue stick. Kind of keeps a history of what i have smoked.

Then again I am still pretty n00by. Who knows how long the journal will last. :2

I keep almost all of mine, dunno if I'll ever do anything with them....but at least I'll have them if I get inspired

Send them to Smokin Gator, as he is going to make something with them.

They usually sit on a table or in my pocket for awhile before I finally throw my bands away. I have good intentions of keeping them, but it doesn't happen. After reading this thread though, I think I will start saving them in case someone wants them.

That being said, I voted for you to keep them.

I keep mine until someone speaks up that they need some bands for a project. :)

I voted no because most of the time I don't keep them unless it's something special.

I voted no cause one of these days I or one of my friends will make something out of them

If I kept everthing that 'I might someday find a use for', I'd be living in a junk heap. Why not just post a thread asking if anybody wants 'em (though I suspect this thread might become that ;)), and ship them to a good home. If there are no takers, then pitch 'em. You can always get more!

I think I'm going to save them and eventually go through them and pick out 'the good ones' to do something with. Thanks for the ideas. :)

When I first started smoking 'gars I saved them and wrote a short
note about how I liked/disliked the cigar on the back. Now that I
know what I like, I chuck 'em. The golf course maint. crew has
mulched up quite a few. I saved the band from the first OpusX I ever
smoked stashed in a place that I see regularly, and where it won't
be disturbed.(It's in my briefcase in a clear plastic pocket intended
for business cards, but I don't need business cards for my work.)

I did find a use for a couple of the old, empty boxes
accumulating dust in the corner.

I bought a couple of bundles of RP X-outs "C"s from CI/Cbid
and put them in two of the old cedar boxes for aging.
Hopefully in a year they will taste nearly identical to OWRs.
(only 6 mos. more to go, now)

Mmmm...mmmm...goood!

Send them to me I'm finally making my cigar band art piece, in fact anyone that wants to part with theirs I'll take them. That being said, I almost cried when I added up the value of all those smokes, could have paid for my car in cash, but then again there are many great memories associated with those that I wouldn't trade.

I try and keep all of mine. I have a glass vase that I throw them in. I have even kept the tubos too. Not sure why on that one.

I toss 'em now except for a few rare ones or ones I like the look off. I saved up some at one point and had my sister make me a book mark out of them. I use it all the time.

My mother used to save my father's cigar tubos. She stored buttons and other sewing supplies in them.

I'm keeping all the tubos, something about those I can't toss. Especially the classy looking Davidoff ones.
