I got my deck 100% completed today. Had to install the caps on the handrails, which turned out to be kind of fussy work. Also put some cross bracing underneath. Cleaned up, put away tools, etc. 100% done. Ate dinner, showered, and had a strawberry milkshake.

Now I've got a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and a '99 Parti du Parti #1 with a pretty nice draw. I'm gonna go gaze at the stars for a while.

:bangerThat is a good feeling to finnish and get the scraps dumped and the tools picked up. I know the family is ready to enjoy it with some nice fall weather. Congratulations, last pic looked great.:tu

But, I don't quite know how that ale goes on top of that strawberry shake!:banger

No pics of the cigar, but I'll get some pics of the deck up tomorrow.

The PdP#1 was great. I've had a few of these that were hard to draw and were a disspointment. This cigar had a nice draw, burned well, copious smoke, and was just terrific.

Here's a few pictures of the finished deck. I included a picture of the under-deck mountings I used for the floorboards. This way there are no screw heads on top, and less chance for splinters to form as the wood dries. I made a couple of amateur mistakes (it's out of square by an inch each direction), but overall it's rock solid and isn't going anywhere any time soon. It's a good, sturdy, safe place for my son to play, and that's the main thing.

It looks great! Good job! Just make sure that your son doesn't make a home-made parachute out of a bed sheet and try to jump off of it! (Flashbacks from my childhood shenanigans!) :)

Looks like you got yourself a very nice deck. :tu

Are you worried about those gaps getting too big when that wood shrinks? :hm

Uhhhh, I don't know. I spaced them 1/2" apart. How much will they shrink?

I put my boards as tight as I could when I replaced my deck and when they shrunk they had about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between them :2
