View Full Version : Cigar Band Lighters- I never knew!

I was just reading "The Smoking Stogie- Cigar Reviews" at http://www.smokingstogie.com/ and read about custom made cigar band lighters. Looks like you can put your bands on Zippos and Ronson's. http://squidslighters.wordpress.com/
Sounds like they hold-up pretty well. While I would never use a Zippo to light my cigars, the Ronson looks like a neat idea. I also think the Opus X light looks great.
Just thought I would pass this around to other BOTL who might find it interesting, and also a project to try ourselves!
MODS- I am not sure if this is supposed to be in the retailer section or not, since the Cigar Band Lighter site is a retailer. If so, please move it to the correct forum. Thanks!

Remember there's that jet flame insert made by Z-plus that you can swap in for like 10 bucks. I've got one in a zippo I love.

I always thought it would be cool to be able to buy a gold ring in the shape of your fave cigar band..although some would be like knuckle dusters!

I wonder how they manage to emboss them quite so well to immitate the real bands..they certainly look embossed from the pics

Looks like they just apply the bands to the lighter and then cover it with a type of clear polymer resin/epoxy/lacquer
(The CAO one looks like it's just paint. Notice the flaked paint on the hinge.)

You pushed me over the edge on finally getting me a couple. I miss using my Zippos!

For any questions you guys may have, send me email at architeuthis@inbox.com and I'll be happy to answer them...
And cheapest prices for the blazer insert i've found are here: http://www.lightersandpapers.com/blazer-z-plus-torch-flame-insert-for-zippo-case-lighters.html
I think Zippo is building their own torch insert in the near future also...
Thanks,

I've been toying with this idea for a while now. It's nice to see the work you've done. For myself I'd like to see a more simple design maybe a custom painted ronson with a single band or 2-3 bands cut to look like a single band. Good luck with your project.

Thats SQUIDDY! He rocks. I am sending him some Cuba Aliados Miami bands to make me up a Ronson. I will send him this thread, he may come in to respond.

EDIT: see what happens when I don't read the whole thread? Squiddy is already here.
