I was looking at Edgestar, only because they can be found for a decent price, thanks to a link I found here, but I have an offer from a BOTL here for a completely setup vino temp that already has drawers and beads for a price that probably can't be beat (gotta talk to him more about it monday)... My question is, will my current stock really fit in it.. I told the wife I'd get rid of everything else if I could have a vino, except for my Reyes Family Cigars Humidor that has the Reyes Family Logo etched into the glass. That one means a ton to me... This means I would get rid of my havana foot locker my 100 ct home made humi and my 48 qt cooler. Best guess is I currently have about 22 boxes worth of sticks @ 25 sticks per box. I guess I am wondering if that many sticks will fit into a 28 bottle vino? I am excited about the prospect of a vino!

Welcome to Vino Tetris!!! I would say you would be OK. I have two Vinos and am only using 2 drawers for singles. The rest of the space is used for boxes and you can really get a lot in there. Here is something that I ran across that took a little room, but really helps when you are really packing one.

I took one of the stock wire racks and stood it up in the back of Vino. This keeps boxes off of the back enough where the moisture will drip down without getting on one of your boxes. I ruined most of a box of RG lonsdales before doing this.

Enjoy the new storage!!

I am thinking I should be ok, but I am not 100% sure on that! I guess if I am not, I will just have to smoke more. Just curious as to how many sticks most of you guys have in your vinos..

I really don't know how many sticks or boxes I have in either one. I know the one that I keep stuff for long term is packed and Tetris is futile. The other one I keep finding a bit more room in. I am getting a bit short though and each drawer has a box in it.

That sounds like a crowd for a 28 bottle unit but best thing to do is ask the Drawer Master himself ChasDen. He can tell you for sure.:tu

:r I don't know about all that :tu

It should all fit especially if you have trays.

I have 20+ boxes in mine without drawers

I know I don't have drawers. Go figure.

I just counted and I have 18 boxes that I can see in the one I age in. I know there is another layer behind there... so that gives you some idea. In that one BTW there is only the stock metal rack on the bottom to keep stuff up. The rest is pure stackage!!!

Ok, so I decided, rather than buying a setup vino, I would buy the edgestar, and document setting it up, so I can post it up here, and on my blog. I just ordered it. Should be here shortly!

I don't see how you can go wrong, Scott. There's BOTLs on the forum using both brands, so tips and help should be easy to come by. Congrats on the purchase.

Well the drain sure is a lot easier to plug on an Edgestar. Just need an acorn nut. :tu

Ok, so far, I am very impressed with Compactappliance.com Shipped the edgestar 4 hours after the order was placed, and it looked as though it would be at my doorstep on this coming Tuesday because of the holiday. I just got notice that it was delivered onto my deck just now. I wish I wasn't stuck at work! :D :D
Pics to follow, in a few hours after I get home.

hahahaha.. Me too! Unbeliveable service from www.compactappliance.com so far! Ordered it at 8am this last tuesday, got notice that it shipped at 12noon on the same day, and it arrived on my doorstep here in so cal from Texas today. 3 days! Not bad at all. Just wish there was a way for me to get home to see how it looked and get it inside the house!

Usually when anything is shipped ground from another state, UPS takes the full 7 days to get it to me LOL... There are a few exceptions, but not very many!

Here are some pics as I unpacked the Edgestar...

Double boxed, padded with styrofoam!

Out of the box, next to the beer fridge.. What a great combo.. Beer fridge and humidor side by side!

Side shot:

As I opened the door:

Without the shelves:

More to come as I document the conversion.. Surprisingly it didn't really smell too plastic like.. I let it air out for a couple hours, and have now thrown a few cigar boxes in there and shut the door.. We'll see how it does.. Its unplugged at the moment. I'll be leaving tommorow and probably won't be home again until Sunday night, so I will check it out then.. It should be good to go by then, and I can start seasoning it to get it up to temp. Hopefully I have enough beads! If not, I'll just have to order more!

Ok, here are a few more pictures. Got home from a long weekend with family, and opened up the wine-a-dor, and it was smelling plastic like. So, I took some mild palmolive soap, and warm water, and scrubbed it down, then let it air dry and dried it with a towel.
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w175/poriggity/edgestar7.jpg

With the plastic smell out of it, I set up a few bowls of distilled water on the wine racks.
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w175/poriggity/edgestar8.jpg

I threw in a few cigar boxes and my hygrometer, and the wine-a-dor is running now. I will let it sit for a couple of days while I let it setup. I have beads coming from Heartfelt, and once things are stabalized in there, I will put the cigars in there. I am hoping to have everything setup and up and running by mid week this week.
