Go Bulls!!!!!!! But seriously, does anyone think Superman will lose a game on his way to his third Heisman!!! Oh wait the big 12 fooled everyone into think their offenses were really that good, while leading people to think the defenses were not that bad. Sorry, SEC hardest schedule week in and week out. Tebow is the man. All 11 defensive starters return. And Urban Meyer is a football god. It is no coincodence he won at Bowlling Green, Ball State and Utah, The man can coach!

Now Go Bulls and Leavit take some lessons from that school two hrs north on 75.

Mr. Ed

People like to forget that Oklahoma left at least two touchdowns on the field in the first half in the National Title Game. It was a close game, not the blowout people are remembering.

A true blowout would have been what West Virginia did to the Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl two years ago.

DougBushBC
08-08-2009, 11:24 AM
Notre Dame is always ranked too high, the BCS is biased towards them, and they are pompus. The fact of the matter is the BCS should give them the same rules as other 1A independents, like Navy. Notre Dame should be forced to play by the same rules everyone else does. This season they have a cupcake schedule for the most part and they can be terrible and still waltz into a BCS game, while most real teams have to play grueling schedules to get in. The non-BCS Conference teams have the hardest time getting to the BCS games, ND should be treated the same way!

Mr. Ed
08-08-2009, 11:26 AM
Notre Dame sucks. They are always ranked high just because tons of people like them.

You can say that about many teams. ND is not top ten material. But they have a realistic chance of going 8-4 or 9-3 with their schedule, 10-2 if they get lucky. 5-7 or worse is also a possibility, but I like to hope they'll do better than that.

I would not be surprised to see ND in the top 25 at the end of the year.

ESPN has been smoking something. If their NCAA Tournament predictions the last few years are anything to go by, then I wouldn't really trust this prediction.

I think they'll have something around 3 or 4 losses. Even if they go 9-3, I doubt they'll be in the top 10.

Ok since the Big 12 came to be, the shorthorns have won a grand total of 2 conference championships (96, 05), I will even give you 3 if you count the mythical won they granted themselves.

On the other hand OU has won 6 (2000,02,04,06,07,08). The question is when would you rather choke? Before you even get to the big game? or in the big game? I prefer getting there.

I would rather win the national title game once, than get there and lose the last 3 times in a row like the sooners...

Plus OU, is dragging down the big 12 the BCS National championship game standings... as a matter of fact, if you take out OU's 3 losses, we would have a winning record in national championship games played...

I'm confident that Texas will win this year's red river rivalry as well so if anyone wants to lose another 5er to me, I'm in! :banger

Well I am going to go back to my original thoughts here since some people dont seem to get it. OU has more national championships then Texas and Florida...COMBINED! Isnt that what you play for? Yes I would have loved it if OU would have won all three of those games...but they didnt. The fact is, no matter how down they end the season they come back every year with a good team. OU has won more games since WWII than any program. They won titles in the 50s, 70s, 80s, and 2000s...indicating a tradition that does not die out. OU is not some school on a hot streak that will probably be out of the picture in 10 years, they will be there, playing in the big game. Will they lose some? Yes! Will they win some? Of course. The Sooners are on a bad bowl streak, but guess what? In 4 years you could be talking about how OU went on a tear and won 4 in a row. So I would not laugh...especially at a team who has played in 4 NCs in 10 years and won one.

I am very passionate about Oklahoma football as you can tell, and laugh at the fact that some people talk so much about the losing streak. It wasnt long ago that Stoops beat Tejas several years in a row (2000, 2001,2002, 2003,2004) but lately Tejas has played the better games. The same can happen to OU w/ bowl games. This year is the first year Oklahoma has had a very experienced QB at the helm since Jason White (with 2 bum knees). Since they we have had Bomar (the Freshman), Paul Thompson (a receiver turned QB), and Sam Bradford (an underclassman). Do not count OU out. Could we lose a bowl game? Yes. Could your team? Yup.

Enjoy! :banger

You must mean *spank that ass*...if you don't know the asterisk is what Tejas will use to indicate that they think they should have whooped OUs ass, when in reality it is their ass that was handed to them. God Help Texas!

James... you know I love you brother... and I am as big of a college football fan as there is. I have bled Orange and Blue since the late 60's. The Gators have broken my heart and taken me to the heights of fan excitement. I have seen other teams and conferences dominate at our expense.

I respectfully say that no other conference can currently match the speed and athleticism of the SES. The last ten years or so the only failure of an SES team in the national arena was due to the *ss whipping that goes on every week in our conference. That is my opinion... YMMV!!

James, you refered to the prestige ranking list, and while I agree with the rough top 10, look at the lower ranks on that chart and the discussion we had about it before:

How was DOOK #38 prestige football program? With the following behind them:

39. Army: 284
40. Boston College: 280
44. California: 260
45. Stanford: 242
46. Navy: 239
50. Purdue: 210
65. Oklahoma State: 115
66. Virginia: 101
T-69. Kentucky: 86
T-69. Kansas: 86

Are they serious? this is a FOOTBALL ranking. Not Basketlame.

I can not disagree with you. We have fallen off the last five years because Larry Coker could not Coach and recruit. That is bout to change. We dont accept mediocrity. Every program goes thru down years. Did Oklahoma football exist in the 90's? Look at florida before Meyer got there, they were average(Miami spanked them three times btw). Miami will be back. We are the U!!!

Can't wait for our match up with you guys On Oct. 3. We got our tickets on Friday. If your coming down for the game lets have a smoke and I will show you around Miami.

I would love to make it down to Miami for the game. I went to the last one in Norman and it was a great game...for us. I think this one will be a bit more competitive though. Unfortunately I will be deployed in Guam during that part of the season.

On a side note I dont think you can compare OU and Miami football. Miami has had the best of OU but the programs are incomparable. OU has been solid through since the 40s with small droughts, Miami has been solid since the 80s also with droughts.

Either way though, Miami is a good program and it should be a decent game. :tu

I'm not so impressed with my Hokies. Offense is still pretty much nonexistant, but the defense held Nebraska to field goals 5 times. Wish they were that tough across the rest of the field, not just the last ~20 yards.

I think Miami will score more than field goals this week. :D

I didn’t know that Andy Ludwig was the OC at Cal…..

There is a local radio host that is a recent grad of the University of Utah, football team captain ect. He crucifies Ludwig all the time and today is at it again…. Someone reminded him that Ludwig is at Cal now, his comment “Oh, that explains the 10 reverses I saw them run Saturday.” :r

Never seen a guy that had the success that he had, get sooooo much negative press while he was coaching a winner. Add to that, he is a “local” guy…. SOOOO many people were happy to see him go.

The Bearcats won!

Brian Kelly is a genius. He guided a backup quarterback to beat a top 25 team. He saw that USF was going to put all kinds of pressure on the backup QB, so he called a QB draw that resulted in a 75 yard rushing TD by the quarterback :banger

Dan do you work for ESPN too? They were on his jock all night just like you.

For the record, that was his first play and got lucky as crap that USF defense decided not to tackle all night. It was 3rd and 16, the play call was not to have the kid throw an interception on the first play. He got lucky and the kid took it 75 yards after a few missed tackles. Not a genius call, thats what any other coach does when his QB gets hurt, first play is usually a run. :tu

What do you all think about the possibility of Cincinnati playing for the national championship? Mike and Mike on ESPN radio were saying that UC has a shot at it.

We will have to see how good the backup QB will be over the stretch b/c Tony Pike is out for at least next week b/c he got injured last night.

In my opinion Cincinnati only gets a shot at the national championship if:
-They go undefeated with no close games
-There are no other undefeated teams from BCS conferences
-Boise State doesn't go undefeated
-Florida and Texas will likely both need two losses to not play in the championship

The Big East is a weak 7 team conference and some would argue that the league should not even have an automatic bid.

After OSU's attrocious showing in their last few national championship appearances I wouldn't count them getting in there with one loss either.

BCS Rankings come out on Saturday and we'll see where UC falls. Likely they will be above Boise State and TCU for the mere fact that they are in an automatic bid conference.
For the record I think that the BCS is a crock of doo-doo :td

And if they play in the championship game, UC better get out their checkbook. Because if a PAC-10, SEC or ACC team comes calling with their checkbook Brian Kelly is gone. :2

Keenum is a good player. Lefevour is the active leader in nearly every QB statistical category in the country. He also holds records that few or no other QB has ever done (20 rushing and 20 passing TD's (Only Tebow) and 3000 yds passing and 1000 yds rushing (Only V. Young)) . Every week he increases his lead on all of them. At the end of the year he may very well end up the #2 QB statistically all-time. :tu

South Carolina 34 #18 Clemson 17

Georgia 30 #7 Georgia Tech 24

WASHINGTON -- A House subcommittee approved legislation Wednesday aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine its national champion, over the objections of some lawmakers who said Congress has meatier targets to tackle.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4727426

I'm just gonna say, the government needs to stay out of COLLEGE FOOTBALL and use their time to say fix the job market, or the debt situation, the war, pollution, education, the healthcare crap... out of all these things that are HIGH priority, the House can take a break and talk about sports, what a lame excuse to not work
