Anyone had these?

http://www.cigarsinternational.com/prodDisp.asp?item=SP-NMB7038-10&cat=167

Looks too good to resist, a sub-$3.00 lancero.

Can anyone confirm Pepin is making these? I'm a huge fan of the My Father lancero, should I just save my pennies for more of those.

Thanks!

They are very good. cBid has some for $13.50 for a 5er. I have heard that Pepin blended them but don't know that for a fact.

I picked up a 5er off of CBid last week. I will let you know when I try one.

Thanks, just saw that. I'm trying to wean myself from CBID. Does the CI free code still work, if so that's the dealmaker....

I agree, these sticks are excellent. I also enjoyed the coffee breaks as well!

Yeah, the free shipping code should work. I bought 10 a long time ago, and have smoked about 6. All have been good except for 1 had some burn/draw issues. This is certainly a good deal.

Regarding the Pepin question, found this at Atlantic http://www.atlanticcigar.com/nestormiranda.html .So apparently they are blended by Pepin now. Just don't know when the change was made.

I think the ones at CI are older stock not made by Pepin. That's why they are getting rid of them at such low prices. I know this was the case a few months ago but now, who knows?

I have had one from CI and I didn't think it was the same as the current ones being produced by Pepin. Which are very good.

I have had both old and new and didnt taste a difference, and they were very very good on the Price/Value ratio.

The old ones were made with Honduran tobacco while the new ones have no Honduran but are Nic baccy. Defiantly a difference.

Thanks gents. I believe I'll hold off on these for now. It would be nice to know how to tell Pepin vs. non-Pepin. Not much into Honduran and Dominican, so I think I'll just save pennies for some My Father or LADCEE.

Thanks again!

I got a 5er a few weeks back. I had one ROTT and it was good. I am letting the others rest a while. I think they will be pretty darn good for the price.

It's a communist conspiracy. :r:r Take over Nicaraguan production, tomorrow the world!

Seriously, he grasped the concept of capitalism VERY quickly.

I have had atleast 5 of them and enjoyed everyone of them. Scored a 10 pack from the Devil for $22 when they first came out. Gave a few out in the Lottery and PIF's and everyone seemed to enjoy them. :tu

When I was shopping CBid the other day, they had some specifically listed as the old blend and some as the new blend. Might not hurt to call and ask which CI is selling.

CI has them in their catalog for $27.50 a 10 pack. I got one in trade from Brent and it was very good. I don't care for long cigars in general but this one was tasty.

In case anyone is curious... majority of the shops out there still have the original blend... my local b&m just got a box in yesterday of the ones pepin blended... and on the label where it says special selections the new ones say.. "miami cigar co. special selecion" so if yours says that.. its one of pepins

Got mine yesterday. Two were busted up pretty bad, called CI and they credited me two sticks and said "throw 'em away". These are the old blend based on the band.

I trimmed off one of the hammered up sticks and lit it for S&G. This is ROTT. It was very "woodsy" with a unique undertone... Perhaps tomato?? I've never smoked a tomato stake.... No burn problems, not plugged.

Pretty darned good smoke from what I can tell. With some rest, they should be great!
