Today I just got notice that Farmer's Insurance just decided to settle a 7 month old claim for damage at an apartment building I own. It took volumes of paperwork, 100 phone calls, two visits to the property, and what finally cinched it is that I had to say "Lawyer".
Now I just have to go to a notary.
They're trying to wiggle out of the "loss of use" clause that I pay an extra premium for, so I made a couple calls. Now I just have to fight for that money.
They've dragged this out forever, so it's gonna cost them.
If that works out, I can buy some cigars and pay the electric bill. :D
Wish me luck!!!

Good luck with stage 2 of your negotiations with them. A rule I learned in construction work seems appropriate to this negotiation you're in ... when all else fails, get a bigger hammer!

:D

This is on the heels of finding out I forgot to move my pension money in April.
I rememembered to move one, forgot to call about the other.
So that's 24k I didn't make because I forgot a phone call three months ago.
Moral of this story...
Stupidity is expensive. :)

Hey, I made 268 bucks. That's better than losing half your pension, which is how I started the year. :)
I just forget to call. I'm no stock market genius, but I know enough to move the little I have left when everything's going in the tank.

Congrats! Just one more battle with them and you win the war. Keep at it and it will come to fruition. Godspeed.

You know if you spend a couple bucks on candles, you may be able forgoe that electric bill and have more money for cigars.

Just sayin.....:r

Great news Scott. It is a shame that they have no problem taking your premiums but when it is time for them to honor the service they always balk and fight.

The insurance company offered me $1600 for loss of use.
I told them it was (insert a bunch of expletives here, etc., etc.).
Long story short, with a bit of persuasiveness it turned into $5000. Took about a week. :tu
I'm gonna buy some cigars. roffles. :)

don't just roffle... ROFLMAO!!!

Way to stick with it. Sometimes I think they make these processes so complicated and tedious in hopes people will give up before they have to payout or will settle for a smaller amount than they are due. Way to stick to your guns.

The funny thing is, if they'd have asked nicely to give me nothing, I'd have said "Yeah, sure, whatever."
Instead they go the "let's see if he's retarded" route.
Like I can't read an insurance policy? Duh.
The beautiful thing is that they think that I think we're all settled, and that I think it limits their liability.
They're really gonna grunt when I addendum them till they squirm.
I absolutely hate dishonesty and lying corporate scum. Being I can't wander around much and stick up for myself, I've become pretty good at paper bombs. :r

I think they'd die if they knew I was just fighting with them to get cigars.
Double rofflecopters. :r

Good Job Scott. Way to not give up. The reason they play the "maybe he is retarded" card is because it works with most people. :tu
