So I was at the B&M the other day and picked up an 09 Liberty after remembering seeing a few posts about them. Haven't smoked it yet. What's the dealio with this cigar? Am I going to be liberated after I smoke it?

Its basically camacho's annual "limited edition" smoke. I think they claim to have some pre-embargo cuban tobacco in them, but that could have just been one year. I've enjoyed all the ones I tried and will buy a 2009.

Smoked a 2005 and it was a pretty good smoke. Not an eye opener but it had some flavor to it.

Smoked a 2009 Liberty last night. I have 19 left and they are going to be put to bed for a long rest. Not a bad cigar right off the truck but.....................

Every Liberty that I have smoked (04-09) has been an adventure. IMHO the 08 has turned out to be the pick of the litter + they are still around. Recall one outfit selling singles @$10 a pop.

I have some from every year released, but the only ones I have smoked so far are the 2002, and they are great. I have 3 from every year left, and won't smoke any more until I retire from the CG next year.

I had an '04 Liberty for the 4th this year and it was an OK smoke. However I may have been let down by my own expectations. The construction was great - nice even burn and great draw but the flavor was just OK.

I've heard the '09 is excellent, hope to try one in the not too distant future.

That is one of my goals, to get them all. When did they start?

2002 was the first year, they released them in 5 sizes for that year. I believe they made a couple sizes in '03 and '04, but just the single coffins after that.

What Tim said. They made 2 sizes in 2003, 2004 then all years after 1 size fits all. In 2002, there are 5 sizes.

I've had most years and the 02 was the best by far, then the 05, then the 07

I have a 2007 box that I keep all the coffins in. Had to take the cedar out to fit them all in. Like I said, theyare all going to sit until July 2010.

Had one of the new ones last week; I was expecting a LOT more for $16. Not a Camacho fan.

Funny that this would come up, I am slowly beginning to piece together a set of every year

the '09 is supposed to be very similar to the '05 I believe, which is considered by many fans of the line to be the cream of the crop. However, the '07 and '08 Liberties are some of my favorite smokes, and the '09 I have sitting in my humidor surely won't disappoint

Had the new one a couple of days ago and it was very good. I still think the 06 was the best.

We have three or four 07's left at the shop where I work. I might have to pick one up. :ss

I definitely would. Nothing like a good Dos Capas IMHO

Just smoked one of these on Sunday while lying on a raft in a pool. What a nice day. Anyways, I'm not quite sure how to describe it other than tasty, It could definitely use some age though.

Well, mine got a little wet...long story but some water seeped into the coffin and thus the cigar. It looks a little like a snake swallowing a rat now. Let it dry out and I'm gonna light to see just how ruined it is. Damn.:td

kinda feel your frustration, bought one at the local shop yesterday and opened the coffin to inspect it when i got home (wanted to respect the shop and not open it prior to purchasing) and found that it had been destroyed by tobacco beetles!! not real happy, but its 30 miles from my house and not worth driving all the way up there...called them and gave them the heads up though so they can be on the lookout
