Stoked as well here. I watched seasons 1-2 in 2 weeks on DVD and it really messed with my head to be exposed to that so much.

Just finished season 2. OMG that was great! I hear season 3 is kinda slow, but I haven't watched it yet. I'll have it finished before season 4 debuts.

So.....what did everyone think?
It looks like it's going to be a great season. Too bad Dexter seems to be so tired he's getting sloppy in all aspects of his life.
He crashed his car with bags of body parts and judging by the episode II trailer one of them is MISSING! Not good.

Loved it. Lithgow's "Trinity" character is very intriguing. Looks like sleep deprivation is gonna be a big issue in this one.

I think this is going to make for a great story. Dexter has to juggle his life and his killer hobby :tu I loved that they already leave you on a cliff hanger.
And Lithgow's just makes the show that much better :)

Quinn's had some secrets ever since he debuted. Always wondered where he got the money for that nice car he drives around. And then the whole deal with him and Anton last season. Taking the money from the hotel is just more fuel on the fire.
I felt the hiding spot was brilliant, and I love how he was mentally trying to tell him self where he hid the body in the visions of his Dad :tuI think having his dad as his conscience is one of the best aspects of this show.

Haven't read the books but an am avid watcher of the series. I think this is starting out as the best season since #1. I'm fascinated by the changes in how it's being filmed, particularly with regard to the (literal, bloody) cutting. They seem to have taken a cue from the slasher genre and focused us (the viewer) in on cuts by making them slower and deeper.
As for Rita, I can't shake this feeling that something's going to happen to her. Like others, I kind of feel like she and the baby are getting in the way of the show's core plot line. Part of me thinks she'll be killed. But I go back and forth about that, especially considering my next point....
Lundy is going to die. I have little doubt. The whole lone wolf thing from the last episode has articulated or joined him to Trinity. Deb might very well fall for him (yet another Deb romance tragedy); but I am almost absolutely certain he will die in an EPIC showdown with Trinity, possible in the arms of Dexter. Or maybe I only HOPE that will happen. :r
Love the show. Can't wait for tonight's episode. You know Rita is gonna be pissed. LoL!

Dexter needs to put her in line. Remember how weak she used to be in season one? Complete 360 from the beginning. Not saying I want to see a weak, scared Rita, but she's getting out of control. She's more like a mother in law than a wife in this season.:D

I like this theory.
Dexter also alluded to revealing his secret to his family on his last kill. If Scott's theory is correct, he may be forced to tell Rita. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

That would take away something that makes Dexter different, his ability to lead a double life without the dark portion interfering with his normal life.

My memory of John Lithgow before 3rd Rock was of him playing more evil type characters, though I can't remember which movies. I think there was one with a young Denzel. In any case, I remember the discussion being that it was great seeing him in such a comedic role after all the evil roles.

I don't have cable so I've been downloading the episodes. I'm caught up to episode 6. So far so good. I now Rita is annoying, but it adds a realistic element to the show. These too are still a relatively new couple and working out their boundaries. The idea of hiding his other life in plain site is interesting, but I wonder how that will keep working out. He already lies to Rita about spending so much extra time at work (when he's out playing). It seems like an easy way to get busted.
In any case. A great show and I can't wait to see how they develop the rest of the season.:tu

SPOILER ALERT!!!
I've been wondering if Trinity has caught on to Dexter. Who is the casket for?
The ending was quite interesting. It seemed like things were moving a bit too quickly and I was expecting him to discover it was the assistant before he took out the photographer. The photographer's disappearance will probably be blamed on the assistant, but will Quinn make any connections about seeing Dexter at that bar. Did he see the photographer there?

No. He won't, I don't think. I think he realizes the errors of his ways in the past and will stick to the code.

Maybe the neighbor will die in a freak accident? Or will he be back next season to stir the pot? Maybe he has a secret crime or strange background.

I think Dex is juggling too many things or I have too high expectations for him. He fell into Arthur's trap too easily.
Pretty exciting though. The Chief is playing great psychological games with La Guerta and Batista; Christine is gone; Arthur and Dexter face to face.
How do you think that's going to play out? Will Arthur try to out Dex? Or will they go their separate ways and let the games begin?

Exactly. I still am in awe today. Especially since I heard "Venus" by Frankie Avalon on the radio this morning (the song that Dex played when he killed Trinity). Not easily does a television show give me this uneasy sensation like this. I am a grown and pretty masculine man, but it brought me very close to tears. It's like it was part of my family that was lost. Sixteen hours later and still all I have to say is "Wow"!

We are both wondering if the new season will begin with the last season being a dream, but it seems like a fitting ending, however surprising.

The whole Dallas "dream" thing's been done before. Don't think that will happen, but I have absolutely no clue how the next season starts. Will Deb move in to help take care of the kids? Will the older two be under his care or go to the grandmother (or any other of Rita's family member)? I know that he'll definitely have his child, but not sure about the other two. Does Dexter have to own up to anything with Miami Metro after Trinity killed in his house? What the F**k happens now? I guess we'll have to wait a year to find out.:(

My only beef with it is that Dexter's son is just too young to remember any of what happened....unlike when Dexter himself was in the similar situation as a child. He keeps talking throughout the season about 'loss of innocence' but for his son to have lost his innocence (as he had at around age 5 or so), doesn't he have to be older than a year old baby?

The boy he kidnapped began that series of murders, then Rita was next, then he never finished the cycle.
Don't think any murders had happened in that house before. She was merely a tool for Trinity to get to Dexter.

Don't make this too complicated, people. I'd be shocked if there was anything fishy going on in the narrative structure (e.g., a dream). I could be wrong; but I was mostly right about everything else this season, so that's unlikely (see post 34 in this thread). I'm talking to you, David. ;)
I think Andy's questions/guesses are pretty good. I wouldn't be surprised if the older kids go to the grandparents and Deb moves in to help with the baby (and further enrich her relationship with Dexter). I don't think Dexter has to own up to sh*t, though. He's a high-profile person and could, reasonably, be targeted. Hell ... just look at what's happened to Deb in previous seasons (e.g., Ice Truck Killer). That said, it wouldn't surprise me if someone (Quinn) started snooping around/asking questions and Dexter has to do something about that next season.

I think next season will have Deb snooping around on her bro instead of Quinn. You heard it here.
That makes it more interesting than a repeat of the 'ol Sergeant Doakes scenario.
And you do know that Dexter & Deb are married in real life, right?

Might as well toss in my prediction; I think the last thing you will ever see in the Dexter series is his son becoming the serial killer and it will solve a long unsolved crime.
It never seems to take long to move past a murder and forget a former star, so Rita will be an afterthought very soon and we'll all be spellbound by another drama.
On a side note, I watched "Law Abiding Citizen" last night and every Dexter fan should do the same.

Interesting....I'd have a tough time if Deb starts assisting Dex...I just think that she's very much on the right side of the law and could never kill anybody, well, outside of her job...I mean, she didn't even kill the hot reporter chick & she very well could have, knowing that the hot reporter chick had shot her & killed her boyfriend, ex-boyfriend, whatever the hell Lundy was.
