Not. I leave for Officer Candidate School in Quantico tomorrow. The Marine Corps will be keeping me company for the next 6 weeks. I'll stop by when I get back on August 13.
Happy early Independence Day CA. I'll be smoking one for America in a month or so.

I'm betting Sam went through boot camp too...Unless he has enlisted time he will not do boot camp. He does OCS, gets commissioned and then does The Basic School aka finishing school.

Nope...Enlisted Marines go through different Boot Camp...It's the Marine Corps' way to make sure the Enlisted Marines learn how to keep young Lt's in check and outta trouble :D

Hah, I have no illusions about my intelligence/experience. ROTC kids (like me) do one 6 week stint at OCS. No enlisted time, although I debated a long time before I committed to ROTC. So, I'll do OCS, finish my last year at Virginia Tech, then commission. After commissioning I go to The Basic School, then MOS school(s), then fleet. I know this is no bootcamp, but it will still be a good challenge for me. All of the senior noncoms I have met that get to work at OCS love it. They just get to blast all these arrogant, incompetent Officer Candidates all day for 6 weeks.
Anyway, I'll catch you all in August. I hope my humi lasts for 6 weeks without any check-ups

You've got nothing to worry about. Drill instructors take it easy on officer candidates. ;)
Semper Fi, and thank you for volunteering! :tu

Wishing you well, brother... hope it is a great experience. :ss
I'm only 10 miles or so up the road from Quantico. Could always stop by and enjoy the 4th with our family and friends - cookout, drinks and fireworks - and of course cigars!

Good luck bro! My son leaves for boot camp Aug 4th and 13 weeks later my family and I will be in San Diego to see him graduate. I'm told it is the best ceremony we will ever see.
