View Full Version : Sad day for my friend Palio

Hey all,

Last night I found a nice little cigar/wine/spirits bar and decided to check it out. The evening started out great...I smoked several fantastic cigars, and was sharing with strangers who were interested in my smokes. As the night progressed I had many bourbons...too many. When I woke up this morning I went to have a cigar. I grabbed my Ronson and found a worthy stick and went to head out to the porch. Oops, forgot my cutter. I searched around and it was nowhere to be found. Then I remembered it was sitting on the table where I was sitting. I called the place today and no one turned it in.

I loved my Palio and can only hope that he has found a good home, one where he will be used often, and where his gift will be respected. I would truly appreciate it if everyone could send some karma his way. Thank you for your time. :(

James

Sorry to hear about the Palio. I've been there unfortunately. Last year I "lost" my 2008 LE leather Prometheus GOF cigar case (only 300 made).
I feel for you!!

Thanks guys, but I have a cheap spare that works pretty well. I will get another Palio at some point, but believe me, my cigars will not go uncut...Andrew, simmer down!

Lost my first Palio at a herf in St Louis a few years back, left it in the lounge we were at and it was gone when I went back for it. One of the owners of Palio (Marc) happened to be at the herf, heard about my misfortune, and handed me his out of his pocket. I have a few Palios now, but that one is my treasured cutter. :)

Sorry you hear you lost one too, James.

I thought I lost my Xikar, but realized I just dumped it to the bottom of my junk drawer since I bought my Palio.

Don't look at it as a loss, look at it as a PIF!

Moral of the story: Always have more than 1 Palio!

I've lost more expensive stuff than that while drinking, unfortunately. (don't tell the wife)

Sorry for your loss. Thoughts/prayers.

I feel your pain,,,I have lost so many things while at a bar that it's just cheaper if I drink at home now. I have lost lighters, cutters, cell phones and wallets at bars. I think I will just stay away from bars altogether.

I have this weird phobia of losing my cutter(or lighter) so I cut and quickly put it back in its case and into my pocket! If someone wants to check out the Palio, I treat it like I'm working at a jewlery store, eyes on the prize the whole time till its back in my hands.

Best thing you can do is get another one to honor the other one.

Sorry to hear of your loss. :(

If you're looking for a replacment, I Googled Palio and found Atlantic Cigars has the black one on sale for 35.95 plus a bonus 5 pak of cigars. Not a bad deal IMHO. Of course, the cigars arn't named, but I can always use a few extra mowing sticks this time of year.

Sorry for your loss, but it gave me an idea.

I've always kept the "This Palio was assembled by" card in my case. I put the cutter on one side and save my cigar bands on the other. I think I'll replace it with my business card. That way if it's ever lost and found by an honest party, I may get it back.
:2

FWIW, my Palio was assembled by VD Aug 05 2007. I honestly think it cuts better now, than when it was new.

While you are on his site you can also pick up some beads and start another cooler. No reason to just buy one thing. To boot, Mark has excellent customer service.

:tpd: I seem to lose my xikar and palio around the house all the time.

Oh and I've bought from Marc before, just recently :D. On another note these are soon to be back in stock with the 5'er of bonus smokes as well at atlanticcigar :r
