I know gold leaf is edible, used in cake or chocolate decorating. But I sure as hell would not smoke it. :hm

It's edible but smokable? Those things are $100, too.
On another forum we decided we need to get some edible gold leaf & wrap Creamosas and sell them for $75 to dumbasses.

Gold is inert but I'm not a doctor - probably no worse than all the other stuff we suck into our mouths when we smoke.

The intellect, or well-being, or health of anyone dumb enough to "invest" in gold plated cigars isn't really an issue, is it?
I'm going to sell that guy some crawfish and call them "micro-lobsters" genetically engineered for dainty, rich, and "discerning" palates. And then tell him that they are only 3000 bucks a pound.

Eating gold is safe because your body simply doesn't metabolize it; you simply get valuable poop.
But smoking a heavy metal...not something I would ever do.

a cigar truly fit for king Midas!
As Lenguamor pointed out gold in its pure form is non toxic. Considering the high melting point (1064 degrees C) and boling point (2856 degrees C) of gold I would guess that practically all gold will be left in the ash!
In other wrods, not dangerous only stupid! :D

Yikes! I'm sure it doesn't taste good and can't be healthy to light it up either. I'd definitely take off the foil.

It wouldn't even burn. It would just give your cigar a horrible tasting tunnel as the flame works its way toward your mouth as it tries to find a way out.
