Appearance + Pre-Light:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13/DrJ8124/DSCF2050.jpg
Medium chocolate brown wrapper with a nice oily sheen. There was a small vein running about halfway down the cigar, but other than that was a very smooth cigar. The cigar had a sweet barnyard scent to it and the pre-light draw was perfect with earthy tones.

My usual smoking location (3rd floor apartment patio) on a some what humid day and overcast skies. There was no breeze at all and better yet, no rain which is a change of pace lately. I paired this cigar with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

1st Quarter:

Starts off pretty mild (which was surprising) with just a subtle sweetness to it. It was soon joined by some subtle earthy tones as well. All in all this stick is starting off somewhat mild but the flavors are tasty.

2nd Quarter:

The same sweet/earthy flavors are there at this section of the cigar, but they are increasing in flavor a little bit. They still are somewhat subtle, but I could tell it was increasing with each puff I took. This part of the cigar was more mild/medium.

3rd Quarter:

At this point of the cigar the sweetness starts to take center stage as the earthy tones start to subside. The sweetness gained some intensity here and I could start to make out the flavors of cherries. This section of the cigar is definitely a solid medium.

4th Quarter:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13/DrJ8124/DSCF2070.jpg
The cherry sweetness starts to go away and the sweetness becomes more subtle again. However, the earthy flavor has returned and now I can make out some flavors of nuts as well. All the flavors work together to make a pretty flavorful point in this cigar. Again, I would rate this section as a medium.

Conclusions:
I was actually quite surprised that this smoke was more of a medium bodied smoke. I had smoked it's cousin, the maduro, in the past and I remember that being a spice bomb. This stick had a much more subdued flavor to it, with sweetness being the predominant flavor throughout as well as earthy tones and at the end, the flavor of nuts. I wouldn't let the flavor strength fool you though, this baby was STRONG. It definitely lived up to the Edge name in that category. I had a pretty strong nicotine buzz going after finishing this one off. The smoke also had a perfect burn (strong ash throughout), perfect draw and also had billowy white smoke when I exhaled. I am usually more of a full bodied smoker, but I actually liked this cigar. Its flavors weren't in your face and were pretty flavorful. Like I said though, it does pack a punch. I also would say that this is a smoke that, with some age, could become even better. I think this would help make the flavors meld together a little more. I actually have another one from a box pass recently that I will let sit in the humidor for a while to see if this is the case .

Grade:
Appearence - 9.0
Draw/Burn - 10.0
Flavor - 8.0

Final Grade - 8.5

One of my favorite smokes. Sadly I'm down to about eight of them. Always burn perfect and taste great. Yeah, more of a medium body smoke but great flavors.
