My favorite gin...none of them. Haven't been able to stomach it since college and the only reason I drank it then was because it was so bad none of my buddies would steal my liquor.:D

Tangueray 10 for Martinis
Sometimes Hendricks.

Gordons for Gin and Tonics.

I plan on getting some Plymouth and/or Magellan to try.

Hendrick's
No. 209
Bombay Sapphire

I also like Magellan's when I'm in the mood for something different looking. It has a naturally blue color to it which is different.

If you ever get to Delaware or know somebody that can pick you up a bottle, Dogfish Head (yeah, the beer guys) makes a wonderful sipping gin that has a real citrus quality to it.

Other than that in my G-n-T's I usually go with Tanq. Rangpur or Sapphire.

Found Tangueray 10 a few months ago and love it straight up with a cucumber slice or with tonic. This replaced Bombay Sapphire for me.

Gin martinis are my drink of choice. Lately, I've been enjoying Hindricks. But, my staple over the years has been regular Bombay ... can't seem to warm up to the almond flavor in the Saphire. Tangueray 10 is pretty good and I've had more than my share of Beefeaters because it always seems to be on sale. Unfortunately, I've never tried No. 209 or Bulldog but I'm always keeping my open for them.

In this order:

North Shore Distiller's Gin No. 6
Hendrick's

That's my order, too. It's a crying shame I have to mail order North Shore at nearly twice the store price, once shipping is added in. Hence I save that for very special occasions.

In a desperate attempt to recreate North Shore's fragrant lavender overtones, I bought a bottle of Monin's Lavender syrup--the same kind you usually find coffeehouses using in mochas and Italian sodas--and while it works pretty well with a good vodka martini, the bite of the gin contrasts with the very subtle sweetness of the syrup. It's okay, if used very sparingly, but it can't touch North Shore.

It turns out that the Monin lavender syrup works wonderfully in a glass of Topo Chico, over ice, on a warm day. Quite different--it's like drinking flowers.

I'm not a huge gin guy, but I did like the Bluecoat gin out of Philly. It's very good straight, with a bit of citrus flavor.

The new Tanq Ranpoor is VERY good with tonic, but, hands down....

Also, this stuff, while not gin, will knock your socks of good.. you can smell the fresh oregon hazelnuts in it:

Has anyone tried Bluecoat? I picked up a bottle a while ago just on a whim and never having heard anything about it. I finally cracked it a while ago and it was a real surprise. I think I paid just over $20 for a fifth and I thought it was better than many higher end gins. I liked it just as well as Bombay Sapphire or Tanq Ten and better than Bulldog or New Amsterdam. I feel it has stronger citrus tastes than most gins and a little less on the juniper side. From what I've read about it is that its a American Dry Gin instead of your typical London Dry Gin, so it does taste a little different and may not be for everyone, although I really can't give you any info on what makes one a certain type vs the other. Also, on their website they say that it is 100% organic, if anyone has a preference to that too. Anyways, I would recommend to anyone looking t maybe try something a bit different and you can't really go wrong with the price.

No gin I have tried has as much flavor as Citadel Gin. All other gins are just poser gins. Hendricks is good but I like a salty nos and a slice of cucumber just does not cut it.

I am only allowed one a day and my go to through 38 years of taste testing is Citadel.:bx

Dr. Bombay for me. Sapphire preferably, or the reg. I do enjoy an experiment occasionally, and Hendricks has been taunting me.
Tanq will do in a pinch, and with tonic and a half a Key lime. I don't like "pre-limed" anything.

Beefeater is a very good budget gin.

I have had Q, it's pretty good but rather exensive.

Citadel is very, very good gin. Only used for martinis though. G&Ts are made with New Amsterdam or Gordons gin.

Bombay Sapphire is the staple for me. Tangueray Ten is a tad smother, but lacks the flavor of Sapphire.

I do like regular Bombay and Beefeater for budget gin. I've yet to try Hendrick's, but I've heard good things about it.

I have to have tonic. I can take or leave the lime, either is fine.

On a side note I've found that Bolivar Royal Coronas slight citrus notes are complemented by a good gin and tonic like Sapphire. For this combo, I would recommend leaving the slice of lime out. It can be a little overpowering and even cause the lime juice to get on the wrapper after you squeeze it. I've made that mistake.

tasted like caca by itself, but hey, they put the warning on the label, it's not for everyone

but since I have the bottle about 7/8 full, I'll keep working on acquiring the taste

i acquired the taste for gin by "just drinking it" because it's all i could steal (that i could palette at the time) from my dad's cabinet when i was 16. Gordons London Dry Gin to be exact.... i know if i took his Bombay he would have had my colyouns.

i'm traditionally a Tanqueray guy for my gin 'n tonics, but lately have been on a let's try and find good low-priced stuff (per Esquire's recommendations) and have found that Gordon's is really pleasant. i like it very much with the tonics.

i still remain a boodle's fan for my martinis.
