View Full Version : Illusione Dark Prince...lite on flavor

So this was part of a high end bunch of sticks I recieved from a forum member. With all the talk about how good the Illusiones were I just had to give it a go. This is one long and slender stick. The wrapper was very smooth with very few veins. Do they spray paint the wrapper? Is this the "Illusione?" If you look at the wrapper the end is very dark and then it goes to a lighter shape....there are splotches on the wrapper of black litterally it looks like a bad paint fade job. The dry draw was nice which is always a concern with a stick this long. I spark it up and I get a tiny bit of spice, slight nutty taste, but mostly just burning tobacco flavor...it wasn't at all what I expected. The stick burned like a champ but really lacked in the flavor department. Anyone else have this experience?

The #1 is called the Dark Prince. Dion gives goofy names to all his cigars!:r
It is an A size 9x48 smoke. http://www.silocigars.com/illusione-dark-prince-cigars-p-1559.html

So what is the deal with the wrapper? Is it dyed somehow?

No, Dion does not dye his wrappers. It's a piece of a plant that grows out of the ground, it's not perfect. You likely just got a funky wrapper.

Ok, cool. This was the first I have had of the line. Can you all recommend a size that I should try? Don't want to give up yet.

I like the 'holy lance' which is more of a lancero size.

That one and the 68 Bambone are my two favorites followed by the cg:4.

I had a ~2~ last night that reminded me of how great the Illusione line is!!!:tu

This is a good lesson for all of us - A review really should be based on more than one cigar.:2

I've smoked several of the CG:4's & Cruzados. Desperately looking forward to more. I have my sights set on the MK atm. CG:4's are a pleasure to smoke. Big supporter of the "Dark lord of the Leaf".

Anybody want to trade some Olivas Red Label (paper) for some Illusione(s)?
The Os are no longer in production and pretty hard to find, they just aren't on my must smoke list.
