I find that I've become a CC poseur (aficionado). However, sometimes I miss the straightforward flavor of an NC stick. What CCs can I buy that allow be to be a snob but still satisfy my secret lusting for NC goodness?

I find cc's to be dland and hard to draw.....just my take.

I love me some CCs... but I gotta keep some DPG sticks around as well. I love that spicy goodness of a 601, a DPG blue or black, a 5 Vegas Miami, or a Padilla Signature 1932. I just don't see me not wanting one of those in the rotation.

Saint Luis Rey's suck.. Err are awesome! Give those a try.

closest I've had is a PSD4, to my palate, they tend to have flavors found more often in NC's, than thier CC brethren.

BTW... I guess I didn't really answer the OP's question. None of the ones I listed remind me of any CC. They are just NCs I continue to smoke regularly.

Try some custom rolled CC's, they can be very flavorful and strong, fresh Taboadas come to mind. I will be handing a few to the person quoted below next time I see him to show him a side of CC's he may not have experienced. :D

None IMHO.

Just take the band off a NC and somehow make them tight to draw. Presto! No one will be the wiser and you can continue to remain snooty.

RyJ Cazadores taste like high end NCs to me.

Did a BTT from Wayne and called it NC.

Then did a simultaneous test of a RyJ Cazadores and Tatuaje Cazadores. They were very very very similar.

I haven't had enough CC's to make a comparison, other than most CC's have that distinctive flavor profile that isn't found in NC's - including those sticks that have been rolled with "pre-embargo" cuban filler.

That being said, I still like to smoke NC's and I have a lot of them that I like. They may not have the "CC" taste, but most of my favorites have profiles that I enjoy. Just my :2

Punch RS11.

As a predominantly NC smoker, I do not see the connection between NCs and either of these smokes. Both are great Cuban cigars and do not have the flavor profile of NC sticks IMHO. I'm not experienced enough with CCs to give you a response to your question, Mark, but I don't beleive that either of these sticks have an NC profile.

Well it's my opinion, so that and $2 will get you a cup of coffee. And I haven't smoked a ton of them, but the few RS 11s that I've smoked tasted like countless other non-cuban cigars I have smoked. Great cuban cigar or not. YMMV.

Peace.

I like your opinion, especially in a thread that asks for it.

I don't agree with it, but I like that you're given it...

And my mileage does vary.

I have read the title of this thread five times and I still do not get it? :r

You want to buy a CC that tastes like a NC cigar?

I know I smoked one too many cigars today, but

P.S. If I wanted NC flavor in a CC, I would just smoke the NC

:tpd:

Where is Peter, I would love to see Peter's response to this thread. (I am smiling of course, I just ran out of images to place in this thread lol)

Just giving you a hard time Mark, you coming to SoCal again this year? I can bring you some NC cigars. I will even remove the bands for you and call them custom rolled.

I can't believe that some people didn't recognize this as a parody of another thread ...

I am sooooo going to be at SoCal and am looking forward to your 'customs'

Consuerga D.R.

i have to say, i have smoked about 5 of these and they have tasted more and more like CC's to me each time. The first time i smoked one i thought it tasted very similar. Now they are so similar that the only thing they lack is a similar finish.

i dont know why i think they taste so similar, they just do (to me)

and they are cheap too!

I usually notice the comparison running in the opposite direction, namely that certain NCs seem to be aping the flavor profiles of classic cubans, usually without the balance or smoothness of the CC, but with enough similarity to make a favorable comparison. For instance, the Punch Rare Corojo crystale tubo tasted to me like a slightly watered down Montecristo #2. The Perdomo ESV 91 robusto tasted like a rough PSD4, the Rocky Patel Olde World Corojo tasted like a slighty bitter Juan Lopez No. 2, and more favorably, the Don Pepin Garcia Blue Generosos (which I love) was every bit as smooth and deliciously gingerbread tasting as an HDM petit Robusto, only twice it lasted twice as long at the about same price price tag.:2

I would try a Cuaba Divinos. To me they have a spice to them that I haven't found in other habanos.

I had a '01 Fonseca recently that tasted incredibly smooth and delicious. I remember thinking to myself, "I don't know if I would be able to pick this out as a CC if it were a blind test"

On the other hand I don't think NCs are smooth generally, so its not like it really tasted NC either.

I'm going to say try a Party short if you want something that has the 'in your face' freshness and wild character of a good strong NC. Want something light and smooth? try a Fonseca, RG, or Juan Lopez with some age on it.
