People stopped surprising me years ago.

What a shame.

The town borders the town I work in. There is quite a furor going on here, and for good reason.

Actually had this happen to me a few years back. Had an old lady in a 80's buick hit me at 20 mph. When the cop got there he told me to get off the ground and I thought my back was broken. My sister who lives in town drove by and saw me handing my licence to the cop while laying on the ground. So I guess it happens often. Always sad to see a fellow biker killed.

The blog comments at the bottom are very telling of the division here now.

If the norm follows, she will get a slap on the wrist. Manslaughter should be the minimum charge. I ride expecting all cagers to try and kill me, so far it has worked. Defensive riding is a must.

They have removed some of the comments made in the blog, but I imagine based on the responses someone was classless enough to bash the victim for being on a motorcycle. That is hard to believe. What a freakin shame.

Unreal. I tap a Lexus with no damage and I get a ticket for failure to reduce speed and have to go to DD school.

She kills someone and will probably walk away, scot free.

Prayers for Anita Zaffke and her family.
Driving while impaired should be the same for drugs, alcohol, texting or makeup.

There is a big push for a "distracted driving" statute here...I think it is well warranted.

I've seen tons of this type of stuff driving the freeways in L.A. It's always scary to see people reading books and newspapers while driving.

I encounter it daily here in vegas! I am not sure if it has to do with all the tourists, illegals or them just being general idiots. It would be safer for me to ride down either side of the highway where they are not actual lanes. Sad for sure!

A 2-ton car vs. a motorcycle. In that circumstance the car is a deadly weapon, just as deadly as a firearm. If I was criminally negligent and killed you with my gun, I would likely be headed to prison. The same should happen to this driver.

SIGH, in some states it is now illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving because it's a distraction.

This idiot is gonna get away with this because she was painting her nails.

WTF?
