I bought a new camera phone with some pretty decent quality, and since I recently took a job with a previous employer that offers me alot of outdoor time...
I thought it would be cool to post pics and mini reviews of my daily smokes with a little added "whats going on around me" shots.
!!! Thread Warning !!!
Any review by me is purely from a cigar speek newbie. The only thing I truely know about cigars is wether or not I like them. I am always trying out new smokes, as well as smoking many of the ones I already enjoy.
The first cigar I will offer up is one that I smoke ALOT. La Fontana It is a mild cigar with a sweet gum head, so the first 30 mins or so is pretty sweet. Not a java sweet, but a perfect morning mild cigar. This was smoked day before yesterday.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/1.jpg
It was a rainy day so alot of this thing was smoked inside my truck.

Yesterday's smoke... Perdomo Reserve "Champagne". Now this cigar really surprised me with alot of flavor...mild to medium, but still kept me wanting more after I nubbed it. My only complaint about it, was the chissel tip did not seem full enough of tobacco. I was worried I would bite it in half if I put too much pressure on it.

Very nice. This is one that kicked me down the slope.... Maybe tomorrow I can find one stashed somewhere here and bring back memories of the beginning of the fall.... I also work out of a truck and smoke between stops. (can't remember an anejo as a truck smoke though.:dr)

Todays...Punch, Rare Corojo. I had something else in mind for this morning, but after being handed this little cute thing...how could I resist.
I have smoked alot of new cigars (new to me) lately, and like this one...are now on my smoke again list. This bowling ball pin shaped cigar was a full flavor but very smooth. Lit this baby up at around 8:30 am.

Now my after lunch smoke was going to be special. I have never smoked one before, but a couple weekends ago I broke down and bought one. I figured since I was spending too much money on a stick, it might as well buy a tubo as a reminder.
Davidoff, Aniv.#3 I was comparring it to a $4 smoke that I normally smoke alot of...then after reaching the midway point of this stick I really started to love the flavors heating up. This thing put out big smoke , but definitely something I can not justify spending the coin on...I could buy two Anejos for the price of the Doff.

Pay the money and take the test. The best way is to go thru the CWI seminar down in Miami. There is a better class that is offered in I think Iowa or some place. You gotta have a min of 5 years experience in and around the field of welding to become a certified inspector.

Great thread.
I hope that people do not get the wrong idea about me, although I have lived my life not carring a whole lot what people thought. I am by far Mr money bags. I have been smoking cigars out of zip lock baggies for years. This past Easter my wife bought me a 25 count humi, and stuck some nice sticks into the easter basket as well (2 Ashton ESGs and 2 Perfection #4s, and a 3 count tin of perfections....I have always bought a bunch of Opus when they can be had at good prices...the prices I see on the internet are crazy high.
The way I see it is, if you are going to smoke something it might as well be good. As I continue with this thread you will definitely see some high dollar smokes enjoyed on the job site, but you will also see some good cheap smokes that are my go tos as well. Like the first one in this thread...La Fontana's are by far one of my fave smokes, and I buy them for $4.40 a stick. I only know of one place in Tampa to buy them. Fortunitly here in Tampa we have tons of places to buy cigars, and the prices are not that bad because of it.
I am currently in the process of building (in my mind) a custom humi out of a curio cabinet. I need more space to keep more cigars so I can save money. I can only fit 20 or less sticks in my 25 count humi...so I sure as heck aint going to put dog sticks in there. ;) Its prolly a good thing you didnt see what I have smoked in the last couple months. I will get cheaper as time goes on.
I really do not want people thinking I am a bragging snob...I am just really enjoying getting back to cigars, and wanted to share some of the experience with you guys.:ss

Monday (4-27-09), was not the best cigar day for me. The first stick I fired up was one given to me by a co-worker. Flor de Oliva The first thing that I noticed was the cheap (to me) plastic band. The stick itself looked nice enough for being a budget cigar. I think he told me he paid less than $2 for it.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0079.jpg
Meh, if this is the best that $2 can buy...you can keep it.

My after lunch smoke was going to be one I had just purchased from a local B&M. There was a guy there enjoying a cigar on his break with the owner. He said he was unsure of my cigar budget, but he loved these things. Tatuaje, I am guessing this is a Tat that everyone raves about on the forums...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0087.jpg
All I can say is that I have never been so dissapointed in a cigar as I was this one. It tasted to me like I think the Optimo in the plastic tube (thats been in my kitchen junk drawer for over 10 years) would taste. Sorry if I offend anyone here, but this thing just tasted stale.

Since I had such a bad day with smokes on Monday, I left the house Tuesday with two sticks that would surely make my day better than the last.
(4-28-09). My morning smoke was a stick I smoke alot of. I usually smoke 2 of these things a week. Monte Cristo, White These things never let me down with their quality and flavor. If there ever was a nutty taste to a cigar, this is the one that has it. Creamy and medium flavored, with a bit of pepper as you get into it.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0090.jpg
If you are a fan of mild to medium cigars, you can not go worng with an MC White. They are not the cheapest cigar in the store, but they wont break the bank either. I usually pay $9 for them, but have seen some stores charge as much as $11.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0094.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0093.jpg
My after lunch smoke was also a cigar that I smoke alot of, and I do mean alot. Oliva, V I really like every single cigar that Oliva offers, and this includes the Nubs.

Wow. Sorry to hear you did not like the Tatuaje Unicos. That is one of my favs (have 2 boxes resting in the humi still).
I've never tried the Flor de Oliva. The B&M I frequent gets those in great numbers, and the regulars blow through them quickly. Great budget stick, they say. I don't smoke enough to worry about my budget that much.

Thursday (4-30-09). I have never smoked a Padron before. I know...crazy huh? Well I will definitely be trying more. What a very complex and flavorful gar this thing was. This little box'd pressed stick has been sitting in my humi for a few weeks now. I bought it at a new B&M local to me (Club Habana), and I had asked the owner what his fave cigar was...he pointed me to this.
Padron, 1964 Anniversary Series
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0110.jpg
Wow! I tasted flavors in this thing that I have not had in any other cigar I have tried. I lit this thing up at around 8am on an empty belly. (I smoke cigarettes, so I never get buzzed) What a great cigar this was. It had a definite taste to it that I cannot put my finger on, but was definitely familiar to me...masquite maybe? One thing for sure is, it burned when nosed!, but I still could not resist doing it every other puff. :D
Good to the last nub...

My wife just made a list of things for me to get at the grocery store, perhaps I need to detour and pick up a couple Padrons. I had planned on smoking a VSG later on after lunch while piddling around in the yard.

I was eager for this day because I had planned to have a double Ashton day the night before. I had never smoked either one of these sticks before but had high hopes because I have smoked quite a few ESG's (which is in my top 3 smokes).
My morning smoke was this Ashton...I have no clue what it is other than it looked tasty...and tasty it was, but unfortunitly it fell short of what I was expecting from the brand.

Well, it hardly makes my top 5 list, i might put it into the top 15, but defitely not my top 5. It had a perfect draw, with tons of smoke that tasted very nice while nosed. Ashton VSG Man this sure is a purty cigar.

After the 64 I had a couple weeks back, and reading about this bad boy...I knew today was going to be nice. And it sure was! My day started off by the hot air ballons welcoming me in the morning by doing a fly over. This red one is actually one of the locals that advertises rides. My cousin was also up and about this morning...as they are every week.

Todays smoke...Padron Anni, 1926. Absolutely wonderful. Just think I had never tried a Padron before recently with the 1964 Anni. These two gars are now in my top 5 list and I can see why they are in many other's as well. These guys have the best draw I have ever had from a cigar, and the amout of smoke you can draw from one is unbelievable. Much more mellower than its 64 brother, and very easily nosed. My advice for anyone saving one of these for a special day would be to find a reason to name a a day special and get to it.

My morning smoke was this Ashton...I have no clue what it is other than it looked tasty...and tasty it was, but unfortunitly it fell short of what I was expecting from the brand.
Looks like an Ashton Aged Maduro Pyramid.

Todays morning cigar was one I also had recently (bowling pin shape) but I had enjoyed that one so much I decided to try its bigger brother out.
Punch, Rare Corojo This darn thing should have been called the Virgin corojo because this baby was tight. I thought I was going to pass out trying to draw from it. I kept cutting the tip shorter and shorter, and even ended up using a buddy's pipe tool to bore a hole into it to try and get some air flow. Had the draw been better I am sure I would have enjoyed it, but unfortunity I did not enjoy it.

I always pack a selection of dif cigars for work, so after almost passing out in the moring from the Punch, I decided to fall back to one of my trusted friends that never lets me down. Yes I just had one recenly in this thread...but oh well.
Oliva V Great performer for the budget price, with lots of flavor to boot.

Wednesdays are always busy with the big wigs showing up to look over the site, so I decided to have this gar to make it a smooth day.
OpusX, Reserva D' Chateau. Not much to say about these, except they are more of what their little brothers are. Smooth, mucho flavorful, and strong. By the time you get into the back end of these the flavor gets stronger and the finish is very long.

Thursday 5-7-09, I started to feel like crap. By Friday I had fallen into a full blown sinus infection and visted my doctor. I fricking hate sinus infections and have them way too often. I had surgery a few years ago to try and fix the suckers, but it only lasted just under a year. They should have fixed my deviated septum while they were in there...it might have helped.
After getting some strong antibiotics into my system and feeling somewhat better a few days later I really wanted to smoke a cigar but did not want to waste a money gar on a sinus infection...so I decided to smoke a recent purchase of my very mild go to cigar. La Fontana (they only run about $4 a stick).
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0163.jpg
Well, someone was looking over me and did not approve at all at smoking while sick. Right after I tasted the sweetness of the sweet gum tip after toasting...the damn thing nearly exploaded and unrolled itself. Way too dry! Oh well.

Well since I was still pretty much sick, me and the wife went to Ybor to at least shop for gars. I had wanted to make it to Tampa Sweethearts while there, but they closed at 1:00pm on Saturday and I missed out on a bundle of apprentice rolled goodness. I did manage to locate a few cigars I have not smoked but were on my to do list.
I had started to feel better towards the end of last week so I smoked this pretty banded gar on 5-14-09 Maximus, Diamond Crown This is one that I picked up while in Ybor. Very well built stick, but unfortunitly my sinuses did not let me enjoy it. I will definitely give it another try.

The only place I have found local to me that sells La Fontana's is "The News Stand" on Fletcher Ave. Unfortunitly they are a periodicals first store...they have a small humi section with mostly Fuente smokes. I usually have to rehidrate the cigars I get before smoking them. (I only go there for the La Fonatana's)

I only left the house with one stick this morning because I figured I would have plenty of time at lunch to visit a local B&M. My morning pick was another favorite of mine that I smoke alot of. Nub Habana, which I smoke alot of. Cant wait for the Maduro Nub!
Benchmade Robusto, cheap thing the B&M girl told me to try.
San Cristobal Clasico 5x50, been wanting to try one.
Padron 7000 maduro, should be double the fun of a 3000...we will see.
Diamond Crown Figurado #6, cause its looked hella yummy!
CAO America Landmark 6x60...been wanting to try one, never had anything by CAO, might as well try one that looks cool.
So what was going to be my after lunch smoke?....The Padron 7000 of course. Are you kidding me?

$5.66? Why the heck am I spending all this money buying anni's?...cause they are great thats why! But seriously, The 7000 was really good.
I still got alot of the same flavors I get when smoking a anni. Perhaps not nearly as smooth and flavorful as a 26 or 64, but at under $6...very nice.

Just for acarr, before heading home for the day I decided to try the el cheapo that the girl at the B&M said to try. I asked what she thought was a decent cigar for cheap. Benchmade Robusto I paid $2.71, and it was worth it because I did not lose out on too much money. This thing was definitely a dog stick. It is supposed to be from Ashton.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0205.jpg

Ah Friday, and a three day weekend to boot! I decided to smoke the CAO America Landmark, 6x60. First thing you notice about this stick is its cool barber pole wrapper. I also liked its size. Big, just like a double robusto. I did not get alot of smoke from it, but alot of flavor to make up for it. I would rate this as an average cigar, that I would definitely smoke again. I kept getting a hint of mint. Am I alone in this?

Over the long weekend we went to Tampa Sweethearts to buy a few goodies. I did a review in the non cuban review section on the #500 Maduro if anyone is interested in an excellent "cheap" cigar. I am sure I will smoke one soon on the job and include it here.
I had heard alot of mixed reviews on this next cigar, but being the huge maduro fan I had to find out for myself. Camacho, Triple Maduro. First off this cigar has a great presence about it. Decent size ring guage and maduro wrapper. Not to mention its look at me silver and black band.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0228.jpg
Well, thats about as much praise that I can give it. It was a strong cigar but it had no flavor. Now if you consider terms like earthy, and dirt, then you will more than likely love this cigar. I love full flavor cigars that are strong, but I do not want the same stagnet flavor all the way thru the cigar. I did nub it, but only because i try to give a cigar a complete chance of proving itself. For me, it never did. Sorry.

San Cristobal, Clasico 5x50.

This size and shape of cigar along with having a maduro wrapper is something I am always drawn to. They fit perfect in my hands without getting in the way of work, so I had high hopes. probably had them set to high because the only thing great about these guys is the looks and the pretty band. I sure hope I smoke something new that I like soon, because this thing was a turd.
Really hard cigar to nub.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0238.jpg
Speeking of nub...Thats waht my after lunch cigar was. Nub, Habano
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0242.jpg
Not the biggest fan of the Nubs, but the Habano is one that I will smoke about once a month. To be honest, I smoke them because they are a change from the norm and they look cool. Just another mild to slightly medium cigar that always gives me the bitter bite at the back of my tongue towards the end of the cigar. I am however really looking forward to trying the new Nub Maduros I hear are coming that some have already tried.

Took the wife to the airport this morning. She flew into Shreveport La., where she was picked up by family and driven to Jacksonville Tx. So I am pretty much the bachlor for the weekend...at least while my daughter is hanging out with her friends.
I brought a few #500 maduro Tampa Sweethearts with me today, but felt like something new. So after lunch I swung by the local Tobacco Depot and bout something that caught my eye. Cusano, 59 Rare Cameroon Preferido.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0256.jpg
Now I have seen the funky modern bands of Cusano cigars before, and they turned me off just by their looks. Once my eyes caught this good looking feller though...I just knew I was going to give it a try, and let me tell ya brothers...I am impressed! Very tasty indeed. A medium bodied cigar that packs alot of flavor. cant describe any of them (lol), but a very nice change of pace. I will be buying more of these.

Today started off very well. Morning cigar, Tampa Sweethearts, #500 Maduro. As some of you may have already read my review of these in the non-cuban review section...nothing has changed. Every single one of these I have smoked is as good as the last. If you were blindfolded you would have no idea you were smoking a $2.14 cigar ($42.75 for a bundle of 20).
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0261.jpg
Even though these things are rolled by apprentice rollers for A. Fuente, you would not know it. Every one of them in my bundle look the exact same, and have a perfect draw. Tons of smoke, that is smooth enough to nose with every draw. I absolutely love these things...which is a bad thing for my local B&M's because I will not be smoking as many big money sticks.
The only bad thing I can think of is they do not come in any sizes larger. As soon as I nub one out, I want to lite another.
Nice burn from start to finish...and it does have a very nice finish. I brought along a 26 PAM to smoke after lunch becuase I knew nothing else was going to top what my morning smoke was. Unfortunitly I had a very rough afternoon, and did not want to waste a great smoke on such a horrid day.
Perhaps I will smoke that tomorrow since I have to work...or maybe I will smoke three TS #500 Maduros instead. ;)

My choice for Sat morning was an easy one...yet another Tampa Sweetheart #500 Maduro.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0268.jpg
Every time I toast one up and take the first draw, I am amazed. How in the heck something so cheap can be such a great smoke. I keep thinking I may have been very lucky with the bundle I bought, because these guys have all been very consistant in quality. They have all looked the same, had the same perfect draw, performed and tasted solid all the way to the nub, same great finish.

At a time, I believe it said at Tampa Sweetheart's website that the Sweethearts were rolled with the identical tobacco as the hemingway series. Get yourself the maddies, and you have yourself the vaunted difficult-to-find hemingway maduro at a tiny fraction of the price.
I have smoked dozens of each, and quite frankly, I can tell no appreciable difference between one and the other (tampa sweetheart maduros or hemingway maduros). The Sweethearts just need a bit of time to dry out and get ahold of themselves.
I love the sweethearts. I'm gonna go smoke a 500 right now that's about a year old. :)

Afternoon smoke, 1926 PAM.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0279.jpg
This was actually a misstake. When i left the house I thought it was going to be a great smoke for a Saturday work day smoke. Unfortunately for the PAM, it was not a good idea. You see, the morning cigar was almost perfect, and aalot cheaper. As much as I love the PAM's, I never should have smoked one back to back with my new found $2 wonder. Perhaps it was because the 26's are so much milder than the 64's. ( I am sure the 64 Pam would have stood up alot better flavor wise) I have smoked the camaroon wrapped 26 before, but this was my first time with a maduro 26.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/flatsixnut/kdk_0283.jpg
Very smooth cigar indeed. But nowhere near as flavorful or strong as the 64 maduro. I actually think my morning cigar gave me more enjoyment...except i did have alot of fun trying to make big ash with the PAM.

Dont get me wrong...the 26 is a great cigar. I personally prefer the 64 because it is a stronger cigar and very smooth. I have an 80th 26 that I paid too much for...I have a feeling it will come up short. I really do not think that the 3000 and 7000 fall to short of the annies.
Everyone has different tastes, a great cigar for me could be the next guys worst.

Uh, yeah.:D Its the only one I have smoked. But I did buy a Cusano, Hanano LXI Sun Grown yesterday I plan on taking for a test drive next week at work.
I will admit that it was a mild/medium smoke but it did have a nice flavor. Remember, I am no expert, nor do I claim to have any taste whatsoever...so take my reviews with caution. ;)

Wow! Recieved your letter yesterday Scott. I can not express how happy it made me to think that I was missed. Pretty cool.
I have been super busy, I have only looked at the PC maybe 4 times in the last month. With the news that it will cost me $7,000+ to repair my car I have been trying to raise a little more extra money. I have also been going to the gym every day after work. Issues with my ex wife and trying to get child support stopped (my daugher has been living with me for a year and will not be going back to her moms), she is turning 16 on Sept 1st.
Over all its just been a very busy month and a half. I have tons of pictures to share from the job site. It has come a long way. Although it has been hot and not the best weather to smoke outdoors, I still have some cigars smoked to share...to include some CC's gifted to me by Hotreds.
Headed to Winterhaven shortly for the rest of the weekend, but I promise to update soon with some pictures.

Saw your love for the Tampa Sweetheart Maduros, decided to try them. Man, they are good.

I'm a new member, i typed in esg's in the search and this thread came up. Sat here and read through all of it, love it, great stuff, keep it up. I agree with a lot of your post's about description of all the cigars you smoke, i'm in maui so hard to find good retailer's. Tampa sweethearts is probably one of the best shops in the country. I love opus X, anejo's, and Vsg's. Anejo's box pressed sharks is my favorite cigar hard to get. Just picked up about 40 opus at retail, it was a great score. Reason i'm writing this is to ask you Michael which ESG you like the best before i start buying them online. The 20year salute, 21 year salute, 22year salute, or the 23 year salute. I would love to hear your opinion.

And don't think your bragging, smoke the good s**t man. Life is to short to smoke crappy cigars, and bang ugly women.

One of the biggest bummers last year was having a seriously bad sinus infection that lasted forever. Almost the entire year. Needless to say there is almost no way of enjoying cigars when you can not smell or taste. I had sinus surgery about 6 years ago and have never been the same after that.
I really enjoyed adding to this thread on a regular basis. Good peeps here as well.
