Seriously tho, I can finally listen to the Sunday night games as well as watch them.

Yes, another one of those when he first came on the scene was a breath of fresh air, but he ended up becoming a caricature of himself.

Honestly, it was exciting and different when he starting doing it 20 years ago. Now, not so much.

I'm going to miss the game strategy & insight like needing to score more points than the other team in order to win.

Gotta say... I will miss the old guy.

I remember him as a Coach for those dominant and feared Raider teams. Can't believe I have been listeneing to him as a broadcaster for the last 30 years...

Enjoy your time off, JM. :ss

I think his voice all those years in the Madden NFL video games did it in for me to the point its excruciating to listen to him on TV.

Actually a touchdown would only tie it :r ;)

And if/when they got the touchdown, he would offer his sage wisdom against going for two extra points.

I'm amazed that this thread is going the way it is. I honestly thought I was one of the few that couldn't stand listening to JM's commentary. He brought a lot to the game, but his color comments were absolutely awful.

THANK YOU! Finally. I guess with 2 well-known sports figures passing this week he maybe figured he'd should hang it up and spend some qt with family..

Great attribute to the sport, but like Ric Flair, he was making a mockery of himself out there lately. One of those people who should have gone out on top. Congrats to him!

Thank God that he decided to finally hang it up, he has become increasingly tired over the past 5 years or so. I am so glad I can finally watch Sunday night football and the Super Bowl without having to turn the volume down. Also glad to see they have replaced him with Chris Collinsworth :tu

Thank God for small favors. He never shut up, and until some one stole that damn screen pen from him I hated watching Mon night football. I wanted to shove the damn pen where the sun doesn't shine. Anayzing is one thing, but he freaking micro ananlisysed each play down to pure boredom.... my .02

I'm going to miss him too. He's been a little off his game the past several years, but I think he's one of the greatest. I'm not sure how I feel about Collinsworth pairing with Michaels now.
