I am trying / have tried many different sticks this past smoking season. I would like to post reviews for everyone but I don't really have a convenient dig. cam. to take pics while smokin. Does it really matter that much if seegars are reviewed with no pics?

Nope, it sure doesn't. Pics are always nice, but your opinion of the smoke is what we like to see :tu

I like to see pics... but more important is what my fellow B/SOTLs think of the cigar! I don't buy cigars solely based on reviews, but if there are enough bad reviews I might steer clear or enough good reviews, I might scoop some up! :tu

It isn't necessary but it's quite nice. As long as it is not overkill, than it becomes picture diarrhea.

Most people will say that you don't need to post pics to review a cigar... i believe you should, it heightens the reader's experience. (my own opinion)

It's the little things that make life worth living.... like seeing and laughing about these 2 posts being one after another. :D

the words are more important than the pretty pictures.
except for dave smoking the padron on the golf course the other day. THAT required a pic! :)

Nope, I always posted reviews without pics until recently. The most important part of the review is the information it provides, pictures are just a little bonus.

I agree that pictures help make the review more entertaining for the reader (kind of like a book with pictures), but I'd rather read a review without pics than no a review at all. (can you say run on sentence)
I'd read reviews with or without photos. :ss

Now, there are some guys that I wish would post pics as it would take up some of the room they use to write legendary long reviews.

I like to put pictures of the cigar before I light it, mostly because it helps other people identify it if they don't know it by name (which most of the time I don't). Plus a photo of the cigar makes up for my lack of knowledge in descriptions. And then maybe one more picture of something unique (long ash, attrocious burn or just a neat looking photo).
I can appreciate reviews without pictures as well as long as the reviewer gives some good information. Thanks to the Team for limiting us to 5 pictures, because when you see eleventy billion pictures in one review it is worthless to see every draw as a new picture. :tu

Pics are nice for the inmates who have problems with big words...:D
For me, taking the pics is just part of the process, makes it more fun for me to do.
But a review is a review. A bad review with pics, is still a bad review.
So let's review....:r
pics=optional
well conveyed review=good!

Phhttt...who needs pictures? Take their bands off & turn 'em upside down and the all look alike.

I do enjoy a well written review!!

Well, I'll do my very best to keep them concise, entertaining, factual and at the very least, informative and interesting.
Or they will be long-winded, hot air filled, utter failures. :ss :fu
But definitely 1 of the 2. :tu :gl

I like to engage all my senses. Since you can't smell or taste anything on the net, I do the next best with videos, along with high quality pics for everyone. I think it does add quite a bit to the understanding of the cigar.

I don't mind a picture or two, but beyond that I tend to skip the pictures and read the words. I don't mind a review not having any pictures. The flavor description, smokeability (burn/draw), and the answer to the question would you smoke it again are the important parts to me.

Yes, If a review does not have pictures how can you prove to the reader that you smoked it???

Well, with so many that frequent the forum, I suppose my pic-less reviews will be cool for some and not-so-cool for the others. Welcome to the intraweeblnetz. :r

The reviews are good and if pictures are available I know I enjoy them. I have an easier time remembering what a cigar/label looks like than I do with names sometimes.

I'm sort of a visual type and do enjoy seeing a few photo's mingled with the review. The photo(s) allow me to observe the cigar while at the same time they complement the review.
Photo's with a review would be my preference:ss

Being that I have a cigar blog, I feel every review, with the exception of the quickie types, should have pictures.

True but looking at your driveway as a background is soo monotonous. :)
How about some videos to spice it up?

Agreed.One or two at maximum.
I really don't care what the cigar looks like from one quarter inch to the next.
If it explodes maybe, other than that,no.

As a newbie pictures help me see and recognize a smoke, but more importantly is if the smoker can tell me what they tasted this will help me when I smoke the same stick. I can concentrate on discovering the same flavors. This will help me refine my pallate and become a better descriptor myself.

The only reason I read Don Fernando reviews is because of the pretty pictures. Keep em' coming bro!
I personally seek out picture reviews and sometimes tend to skim over the non picture ones.....Nevertheless I love me a good pic review. :2 :tu
